**Job Description:**
Maxis Berhad is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Accountant to join our team on a part-time basis in our George Town, Penang office. As an integral part of our finance department, you will be responsible for maintaining financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and contributing to the efficient financial management of the organization. **Key Responsibilities:**
- **Financial Record Keeping:**
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledger entries, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- **Financial Reporting:**
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Prepare and present financial reports to management, detailing the organization's financial status and performance.
- **Budgeting and Forecasting:**
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
- Monitor actual financial performance against the budget and assist in variance analysis.
- **Compliance and Internal Controls:**
- Ensure all financial activities comply with laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and information.
- **Payroll Administration:**
- Assist with payroll processing, ensuring accurate calculation of wages, benefits, and deductions.
- Maintain employee records and ensure compliance with related legislation.
- **Customer and Vendor Relations:**
- Liaise with vendors and clients regarding invoicing and payment queries.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders through effective communication and conflict resolution.
**Requirements:**
- **Education:**
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- **Experience:**
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in accounting or finance.
- **Technical Skills:**
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with financial modeling and forecasting techniques is a plus.
- **Soft Skills:**
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills, exhibiting resourcefulness in addressing financial issues.
