Main responsibilities:
Responsible for sourcing, identifying, and incorporating suitable new technologies in the design and construction of water treatment plants, water distribution systems, residual management systems, and water resource management, including groundwater, as well as adapting Building Information Modeling (BIM) in project implementation.
Tasks: Conduct desktop research to identify appropriate new technologies for the design and construction of water treatment plants, water distribution systems, residual management systems and water resource management including groundwater to align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) criteria and climate change adaptation strategies.Conduct feasibility studies on selected technologies, such as the Industrialized Building System (IBS), to determine their suitability for practical implementation.Engage with external institutions related to the development of new technologies, particularly in the water industry.Prepare reports, proposals, board papers and presentations to management on proposed new technologies and pilot installations.Consult with Water Operators, Consultants, Service Providers and Authorities about the design, installation, operation and maintenance of proposed new technologies.Identify pilot installations, prepare project budgets and compile information on completed projects.Carry out analysis, keep abreast and prepare necessary information on project planning, cost, risk management and document control for new technologies.Provide technical support related to new technologies for all stages of projects, including project evaluation, detailed study, detailed design, tendering, construction and post-construction stages.Ensure that the design work of new technologies by consultants meets appropriate standards is delivered within the scheduled time and budget expectations and complies with regulatory requirements.Identify local and international facilities and organizations related to research and development in the water sector and carry out capacity-building programs.Review all technical documents submitted by consultants or contractors, including technical reports, specifications, design drawings, tender documents and any other documents related to proposed new technologies projects.Prepare the relevant Terms of Reference (TOR) for the appointment of engineering consultants for new technologies projects.Provide input to other departments, divisions and companies on works related to new technologies.Identify improvements and proposals to support company business and government direction on climate change-related issues.Assist in the preparation of monthly project progress reports.Communicate with the project delivery team/internal divisions for project data updates.Attend project meetings and prepare minutes of meetings.Hand over completed projects to Water Operators.Prepare letters, memos, reports and other documentation related to new technologies project implementation.Perform other tasks as instructed from time to time by management and/or immediate superiors. Requirements: Recognized Degree in Civil Engineering or its equivalent.At least 8 years' experience in C&S Design Engineer.Experience in Building Information Modelling (BIM) is an added advantage.Well versed in the water treatment and distribution system design and construction.Experience in structural works for water supply system is an added advantage.Proficiency in the use of MS Office suite including MS Access, MS Excel, MS Word and MS PowerPoint;Proficiency in spoken and written English and Bahasa Malaysia is required;Excellent report writing and presentation are essential;Being self-motivated, analytical, resourceful and having strong integrity are important qualities; andA good working attitude and willingness to travel are expected.
