Assistant Staff Engineer/ Staff Engineer - Equipment Projects (Automation Design)

The Assistant Staff/Staff Engineer Equipment Projects is responsible for ensuring successful execution and delivery of engineering equipment projects within the scope of accountability.
This role is crucial for carrying out machine-sourcing projects, especially when embedding new technologies.
The staff engineer will follow the engineering process for equipment projects, which is harmonized among the Competence Centers of the Non-Active Medical CoE's.
He/She will ensure close cooperation with respective functional and support teams, including R&D for product development and manufacturability, and Procurement to improve quality and yield.Responsibilities:
Responsibility for timely and task-oriented processing of projects encompassing engineering tasks, considering investment and production costs.
Drive projects and processes in accordance with valid operating instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Manage equipment projects with specific expertise in specialized areas (e.g., assembly, packaging) or discrete products.
Guide and track equipment suppliers throughout the project, including all milestones, from RFQ until the release of finalized equipment after successful SAT.
Responsible for applying global quality requirements related to B. Braun's production sites worldwide.
Development of project concepts and feasibility studies.
Verification of technical compliance with acceptance criteria, conducting acceptance tests, and monitoring the commissioning and relocation of equipment.
Provide customer support in all project phases.
Work closely with the R&D team in product development and design for manufacturability.
Collaborate with other functional teams such as Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain/Procurement to improve quality and yield.
Review technologies, processes, production facilities, and products for opportunities to streamline and optimize, aiming to improve quality and cost-effectiveness.
Support training concepts and provide recommendations for upskilling junior project managers in the department.Requirements:
At least 5 years of experience in machine design and development for medical device engineering projects.
Experience in implementing the organization's equipment machinery strategy by managing activities to solve problems and generating new equipment (idealization) and validating the equipment (conceptualization and implementation).
Leadership experience is advantageous, with the ability to guide team members.
Good communication skills and ability to collaborate with functional leaders and teams.
Experience in implementing process improvements, automation technologies, knowledge of Industry 4.0, and digital manufacturing.
Project management experience in delivering projects on time and within budget.
Ability to plan, organize, and analyze complex data.
Ability to manage multiple concurrent research efforts to collect, analyze, and present findings for decision-making.
Experience working in a highly regulated environment is required.
A proven passion for science and engineering as a business with an understanding of the business side of innovation.
Strong discovery skills, particularly in questioning, observing, and experimenting.
Naturally curious and motivated to learn new things and understand relationships between teams, people, customers, products, processes, and culture.
Ability to assess, articulate, and manage risk with urgency to meet project deliverables on schedule and budget, comfortable escalating issues and executing contingency plans.
