The Position

As Roche Services and Solutions (RSS) embarks on moving up the value chain in providing service excellence in end to end operation finance activities for the affiliates, we are currently looking for a dynamic and agile Head of Country Chief Accountant to lead a team of Country Chief Accountants (CCA). The CCAs would work closely with the Operation teams comprising of - General Accounting Management Accounting (GAMA) accountant, Accounts Receivable, Treasury (ARTR) accountant, Procure to Pay (P2P) accountant, Compliance team members who are executing and accountable for the end to end operations finance activities at the site. Reporting to the General Manager of Roche Services and Solutions (RSS) Operations APAC and a member of the RSS Operations APAC leadership team, you will:

- Contribute to the creation and execution of the Global Shared Service (GSS) Center Strategy
- Recruit, coach and develop a team of CCAs covering multiple locations (APAC) and divisions (Pharma, Diagnostics and Diabetes Care)
- Manage multiple stakeholders across divisions (Pharma, Diagnostics, and Diabetes Care) and within group functions
- Have a transversal view across the different existing service cluster in the SSC (e.g. R2R, P2P, Master Data) and ensure with the RSS Leadership Team the efficient use of resources across CCAs/Operation teams
- As a member of the Roche Affiliate Model Program (RAMP) be involved in all decision related to CCAs (e.g. recruitment plan, project timeline) and feedback key learnings to the project team
- Participate in the creation and animation of the CCA network with other CCA Heads

Key Responsibilities

Strategy and execution

- Responsible and support the delivery of excellent service by the CCAs within the scope of RAMP by ensuring strong accounting and operational control environment as well as issue resolution at affiliate leave in line with the adoption and compliance to the defined RAMP processes
- Design and integrate CCA departmental strategy, vision and objectives in line with the GSS overall strategy. Ensure that practices across CCAs remain harmonized – in relation to the nature of activities performed (CCA vs RSS operation team) as well as how these activities are performed
- Drive continuous improvement as well as knowledge sharing across CCAs and best practice sharing across RSSs (Budapest, Kuala Lumpur and Cost Rica)
- Oversee key KPIs at the site/ regional level and ensure proper actions are in place to address deviations
- Managing senior stakeholders in delivering best of class finance services that support the stakeholders / local affiliate in their focus of driving the business to create impact in patients’ lives

People management: Coaching and development

- On-board CCAs – clearly outline roles and responsibilities along the project, provide business acumen training, and support the CCA in building its networks within and outside the affiliate
- Provide excellent leadership in coaching the CCAs along their journey of various aspects (e.g. change management, business knowledge, stakeholder management)
- Support the CCAs in driving their own development, have regular discussion with team members around Operation team performance and development. Channel potential training gaps to the Operation Manager/ L&OD department and address these gaps directly by collaborating with other Roche functions whenever required
- Be involved in the Roche accounting global network and channel all relevant information to the CCAs for dissemination in the virtual teams
- Be a role model in team motivation and drive engagement within the department
- Establish annual objectives/ goals with the CCAs to ensure performances are maintained and RSS objectives/ goals are accomplished

Project Management

- Play an active role in the RAMP by providing input on suggested timeline. Actively follow-up with CCA and PMO on execution of the different RAMP phases. Assess the readiness level of the CCA and Operation team to completely take over activities from affiliates
- Drive efficient decision making for all matters related to CCAs as well as virtual teams as a key stakeholder of RAMP
- Provide regular update to RAMP operating committee on challenges, progress, learnings and roadblocks
- Collaborate closely with Service Delivery Coordinators, Global Business Process Owners and Global Business Process Managers on defining the processes (SOP, Desktop procedures (DTP) and Company code protocol (CCP)
- Act as an ambassador of the RAMP and play a key role in supporting the affiliate along the transition

Requirements

- A degree in Finance/ Accounting/ Commerce or equivalent. ACCA, CPA, CIA or other accounting professional qualifications is required
- Affiliate experience and/or sound understanding of the Pharma and Diagnostics business
- Minimum 10 years of working experience in finance and minimum 5 years as leader
- Knowledge of accounting principles and practices; financial reporting, audit and taxation
- Experience at coaching and influencing during a period of change, ability to manage ambiguity and work in an autonomous way
- Ability to set the priorities, give clear directions, simplify work in a changing and growing environment
- Authentic leader who focuses on the growth and well-being of the team, developing and empowering people to perform at their highest potential
- Demonstrate strong and effective collaboration and knowledge sharing
- Strong communication skills, expressing ideas and expectations in a clear and concise manner. Ability to mobilize around a vision and challenge status quo.
- Strong decision-making skills required
- Proven track record of effective relationship and stakeholder management with diverse populations (customers, colleagues and senior leaders). Ability to work in an efficient way in matrix organization
- The ability to operate effectively across diverse cultural and business environments
- Travelling required up to 20%.
