Duties and Responsibilities:
Receive blood and tissue specimens for Laboratory analysis.
Collect blood samples from patients, observing principles of aseptic technique.
Perform calibration procedures and analyze Quality Control values prior to analyzing patient samples.
Determine the acceptability of and prepare patient samples for analysis.
Perform various biochemical, haematology, microscopic, and bacteriologic tests to obtain data.
Analyze patient samples and evaluate the reliability of test results according to age, gender, and specimen acceptability criteria.
Perform and document routine maintenance of department equipment and call for maintenance and repair as needed.
Place orders for reagents and supplies, maintaining optimal stock without excessive inventory.
Record laboratory test results and engage in research and technical activities.
Transcribe materials, file, and maintain all pathology and clinical laboratory files.
Process, type, test, and store blood.
Attend meetings and participate in seminars as directed.
Assist in preparing written documentation and filing as required.
Maintain department records, reports, and files as required.
Participate in assigned proficiency surveys, performance improvement activities, and mandatory continuing education programs.
Train and orient new employees and provide technical guidance.
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Education and Requirements:
Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology / Biomedical Sciences with 4-5 years in Laboratory experience.
Valid annual practicing certificate where applicable.
Understanding of staining techniques, culture methods, and sterilization techniques.
Basic knowledge of various laboratory specialty fields.
Good command of both English and Bahasa Malaysia (written and spoken).
