What's the role:
The Project Manager is a Site Extended Leadership Team Member and has leadership, business, and technical responsibilities. You will champion the SMDS Culture of Lead with Courage, Make it Happen and Make it Better, and collaborate with other ELT Members to drive the site to Best in Class performance as the World's Leading Gas-to-Liquids Specialties facility.
You will be accountable for providing project management governance, management and performance monitoring for all site executed projects and Plant Changes according to Shell, regulatory and local standards & requirements. You will be the Asset Management System Site Process Focal Point for Manage Projects and Management of Change, and perform assurance per Conduct Assurance requirements.
You will also be responsible for the leadership, capability development, skill pool management and deployment of resources in the areas of Project Engineering and Project Services to achieve the site's short and long-term business objectives. You will drive the Project Engineering section in continuously learning and improving in delivery of project engineering tasks and approved targets
Other responsibilities include:
- Manage healthy interface within the Engineering department; and with other departments within SMDS such as Production, MTAC, HSSE and Technology to ensure multi-discipline integration and alignment across areas and sufficient quality assurance and resource support to meet the target.
- Contribute to the high safety performance of the site with direct responsibility for the Project Engineering staff including Contractor Partners through visible safety leadership and effective coaching.
- Effectively manage section budget, identify and implement cost-effectiveness and improvement opportunities to maximize value for Shell MDS.
- Manage, deliver and monitor Projects and Plant Changes planning and execution according to Shell, regulatory and local standards & procedures, and maintain an overview of Major Projects planning and execution per Project Realization Process.
- Manage the engineering information depository (Asset Information Management) and input to other databases, such as SAP MM, RRM, and VT.
- Oversee overall CAPEX Management in the areas of project engineering, including business planning and project delivery.
- Manage the project governance process, including DRB, Project Steer and Project Assurances.
- Ensure agreed key project indicators are incorporated in the execution process of a project.
- The review recommended improvements in engineering and design standards to lower cost, improve work quality and facilitate maintenance.
- Oversee project issues resolution process.
- Build close work relationships with external stakeholders and local authorities related to projects.
- Oversee the process of any hardware changes across the SMDS plant.
- Oversee strategic asset information management and subsequent plant engineering information management.
- Oversee the process of land management in relation to SMDS projects.
- Uphold the Engineering Vision and Purpose, as well as support people's competency/training and management of the Project Engineering section's staff and contractors.
What we need from you:
- At least 7 years of oil & gas experience
- Experience in planning, scheduling, delivering and/or managing maintenance execution, campaigns, plant changes and/or project engineering in a manufacturing environment with strong leadership skills of Authenticity, Collaboration, Growth, and Performance.
- Knowledge of the Shell HSSE & SP Control Framework, DEMs and DEPs, Shell Project Standards, IPA benchmarking and local regulations/requirements.
- Proven experience in developing and working with commercial arrangements and skilled at managing contractor performance. Able to lead project controls staff to develop robust cost/schedule estimates and track delivery against agreed targets.
- Effective at project control and management of project risks.
- Experienced in the integration of operational requirements and philosophies into project execution through design, testing, and commissioning.
- Experience in simplifying complexity, enabling vertical & horizontal connectivity and driving change through hands-on involvement.
- Experience in demonstrating excellent communication skills and building relations with external stakeholders.
