Responsibilities:
Manage the planned maintenance program and class/statutory requirements.
Provide technical knowledge, support, and assistance on matters related to technical operations as required.
Plan and undertake ship repairs and dockings.
Prepare and monitor vessel operational budget.
Be a member of the duty on-call team (EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM).
Be responsible for the technical management of the vessels, from the new build stage through to commissioning and operational phases.
Manage marine auditing to class, ensuring survey, certification, and re-certification requirements are met at all times.
Monitor vessel performances related to speed, fuel, and lubricating oil consumptions and implement remedial actions whenever necessary.
Conduct pre-selection interviews of potential sailing staff Engineers and be involved in the familiarization of new crew.
Be involved in purchasing spares and stores for the vessel(s).
Implement cost control initiatives and inventory control of the vessel, keeping track of all supplies to avoid duplication/oversupply.
Read, review, and record technical reports, responding to vessels for further actions and maintaining technical statistics.
Visit the vessel(s) for inspection at regular intervals, with at least one sailing and two port visits per vessel, ensuring visits bring value to the vessel's quality management. Timely submission of Ship Visit Reports and effective follow-up until closure, filing reports in the Portal.
Arrange for calibrations/service by technicians for repairs and defect rectification, identifying spares/technicians and liaising with agents, discussing with Fleet Manager and vessel based on vessel schedule.
Ensure preparation of defect lists by vessel, prompt follow-up with vessel for rectifying all defects, and updating defect list status to Fleet Manager twice a month.
Manage and monitor critical equipment/machinery and ensure adequate spares supply at all times.
Prepare investigation reports for technical issues.
Prepare quarterly technical reports for owners.
Prepare for vetting, targeting three observations of low risk. Ensure all technical matters, certification, and visit reports are in order, with no pending issues discussed in detail if any issues cannot be solved.
