The Shared Services Organization is on a transformation journey – set out to dramatically improve its operations by adopting best practices and developing a culture of continuous improvement.
Our current operating model consists of regional captive centers supported by a global BPO operation for our Finance & Accounting processes.
Becoming a world-class Shared Services Organization requires changes in our business processes, hence changes in many of our existing accounting systems.
To that point, we have embarked on several strategic initiatives this year to upgrade our systems, automate and standardize our processes.
We are looking for an interim Accounting Associate to support the Global Shared Services team as we work through many of these initiatives.
This position will report to the APAC AP Manager in Global Shared Services and will be based in our Penang office.
The associate will be responsible for working with internal customers, vendors, and our BPO stakeholders and providing feedback/status updates.
As the MGSS team prepares for transition to the new Cloud-based ERP, there will also be a focus on cleansing existing data, removing redundant or unnecessary records, clearing down open, aged items, and performing/governing the daily operational tasks onshore and with Genpact; our BPO provider.
This assignment is for approximately 12 months.
About the RoleParticipate in various MGSS P2P projects to meet corporate objectives, including those that will drive improvements in our Payables processes.
Support daily payables operations in Accounts Payable as required, including backup to AP staff for the APAC region.
Support daily operations with the BPO (Genpact) and manage the escalations with both business units and suppliers to ensure timely and satisfactory resolution and continued service levels.
Maintain and report key metrics to validate accuracy, understand root cause analysis, and implement future enhancements.
Meet Service Level Agreements with our business partners as well as Mattel's Financial Policies.
Develop and maintain professional relationships with MGSS customers while providing high quality, efficient and courteous service.
Compliance with all MGSSS, Controller's Office, and SOX procedures.
RequirementsWork in and support a team environment, keeping with Mattel's One-Team values.
Strong knowledge of PC's and software including Microsoft Excel and Word.
Oracle experience.
Strong knowledge of debits and credits and account reconciliations.
Ability to handle a high volume of work while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to research independently to drill down and find account discrepancies.
Ability to identify problems, suggest viable solutions, and make decisions within scope of responsibility.
Excellent written, verbal & interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively with people at all levels.
Ability to recognize opportunities to streamline and standardize global processes.
Must be well organized, flexible and able to shift priorities to meet deadlines.
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or equivalent experience.
2+ years related experience in accounting, finance or a related field.
Exemplary attendance and job performance.
Overtime is mandatory, particularly at month-end periods.
