Job Summary: Application Support Engineer is responsible for providing technical support for Linux-based systems and applications. This role involves troubleshooting, system administration, ensuring the smooth operation of Linux environments and maintaining and troubleshooting software applications to ensure they run smoothly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities: System Administration: Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers and applications.Technical Support: Provide 1st, 2nd, and 3rd line support for Linux systems, addressing issues related to hardware, software, and network.User Support: Assist users in understanding and effectively using software applications.System Monitoring: Continuously monitor systems to detect and address potential issues proactively.Software Installation and Updates: Assist in the installation and updating of software applications.Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve technical issues, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.Security: Conduct routine security audits, apply patches, and ensure system security.Documentation: Create and maintain documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to improve system performance and support tools.System Enhancements: Collaborate with the Project and Business User team to identify and implement system improvements.Training: Identify knowledge gaps and provide training to team members as needed.Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.Certifications: Relevant certifications will be added advantageExperience: Proven experience in Linux system administration and Application support. Knowledge of Oracle Linux will be an added advantage.Skills:Strong knowledge of Linux OS internals, networking, and security.Strong understanding of software applications, Linux systems, network and security.Familiarity with tools like Apache, MySQL, MariaDB and VMware as added advantage.Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.Effective communication skills to interact with team members and end-users.Ability to document processes and maintain accurate records.Flexibility to handle various technical issues and adapt to new technologies.Desired Attributes: Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
