To plan, manage and control plant mechanical, electrical, automation, control and instrumentation engineering activities, which includes engineering design, engineering improvements, technology management and maintenance of engineering systems.
To lead the team in plant maintenance to ensure equipment is maintained according to standards and any plant machinery or equipment breakdown is attended to promptly and properly.
To manage capital expenditure projects that include planning, budget control, project schedules, etc.
To develop, evaluate and implement new manufacturing technologies and operational excellence projects in plant & process and control & instrumentation systems.
To review and ensure good operational effectiveness of existing processes and work practices related to management and maintenance of the plant.
To ensure adequate training and skills development are provided for competency and development of subordinates.
To act as a mentor and coach to subordinates.
To derive, monitor and control departmental budget and ensure department objectives are met.
To manage the engineering department and ensure department objectives are met.
To develop and manage maintenance management systems that include preventive and predictive maintenance, parts inventory control, control of maintenance costs, manpower control, etc.
To always maintain and encourage department teamwork, synergy, transparency, and open communication.
To ensure downtime and rejection are minimal and the team performs the job efficiently as per guidelines in KPI.
Always feedback to superior regarding any outstanding issues/items.
To work out plans to achieve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
To liaise with other departments/plants for standardization or critical work execution.
To ensure activities carried out solely or jointly with other divisions observe good health and safety standards.
Always adhere to and enforce company rules, policies, and regulations.
To carry out routine walkabouts and site inspections to ensure good housekeeping and identify potential breakdowns or continuous improvement opportunities.
To work as a team within the department to resolve issues related to human resources or plant operation.
To work as a unit with other departments to resolve any operational issues.
To work with internal & external regulatory agency inspectors to correct any aspects of maintenance that are cited for inspection.
To review the quality system procedures and work instructions for the department.
To conduct performance appraisals on subordinates.
To undertake any projects or tasks assigned by the superior.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Mechatronic Engineering or equivalent
Minimum 6 years of working experience in engineering/maintenance.
Knowledge of Programmable Logic Control (PLC), SCADA, AutoCAD
Familiarity with Industry 4.0 (IoT/Automation)
Experience in manufacturing technologies and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
Understanding of operational excellence principles and tools (e.g.
Value streams, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma)
Experience with tools involved in resource planning and execution
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting techniques
Proficiency in time study and manpower utilization calculation
