Assistant Principal: Character and Wellbeing (High School)St Joseph's Institution International School (SJIIS) Malaysia is a Lasallian International School (3 to 18 years). It prepares students for the IGCSE and A Level examinations with an emphasis upon research-based teaching pedagogy and a character-building programme of activities inspired by the school's Lasallian heritage. This includes service learning initiatives, and a holistic approach to sport, music and the arts.
SJIIS is seeking an outstanding and inspirational Assistant Principal: Character and Wellbeing, whose passion and experience will transform the outcomes of our students. The successful candidate will have a fantastic opportunity to join the staff of this ambitious international school.
The School is committed to providing outstanding pastoral support that meets the needs of our students and the Assistant Principal: Character and Wellbeing will play a key role in defining this. The successful candidate will have strong knowledge and understanding of pastoral care best practices as well as safeguarding procedures and their underlying ethos.

Requirements:
We are looking for a committed, passionate and knowledgeable professional who will work proactively to ensure the best possible standards of pastoral care and character development across the school. Prior leadership experience in a pastoral role is essential.
A Successful Candidate Will:
Engage and motivate members of staff, in particular Heads of Year.
Demonstrate knowledge of up to date, context specific character, wellbeing and safeguarding best practices and their underlying ethos.
Understand how pastoral and academic roles work together, rather than in isolation.
Demonstrate a strong interest in academic research and wider reading around character development and student wellbeing and how to use that research practically.
Have knowledge and experience of effective pastoral interventions and their underlying ethos.
Have knowledge and experience of Special Educational Needs.
Have knowledge and experience of effective integration for new students.
Knowledge of, and interest in, policy relating to safeguarding, student pastoral support and behaviour development and implementation.
Be able to work collaboratively, develop effective relationships and establish productive partnerships.
