As a Sourcing Engineer, you are required to:
ResponsibilitiesDevelop appropriate business relationships with key suppliers/sources to implement a global strategy for competitive materials sourcing.
Transfer technical requirements between internal R&D and the vendor.
Lead in clearing Material Specifications - push the project and be aware of the time plan.
Work with suppliers for FAIR submission before part delivery and participate in supplier and component qualifications and issues.
Identify and implement contract and agreement compliance.
Facilitate product/project transfer from business division to Penang Plant - Cost Reduction through Migration & Localization.
Explain high complex mechanical and electrical products.
Act as point of escalation for component issues, as appropriate.
Involve in Product Life Cycle (PLC)/NPI Projects of divisions.
Explore & develop quality supply base as well as local vendor development.
Be a key driver in managing supplier relationships.
Complete ad-hoc activities or project tasks assigned by management.
Understand how electro-mechanical assemblies work and be able to discuss this internally and externally.
Review, compare, and verify quotations from suppliers to achieve competitive pricing.
Identify opportunities and work on cost reductions for existing parts with suppliers and internally.
Continuously drive PPV generation projects and secure continuous improvements and cost reductions.
QualificationsDegree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with at least 3 years of experience in sourcing or a related role.
Mechanical knowledge on items such as CNC machining, sheet metal, and plastic injection moulding.
Experience working with local and global supply bases.
Able to communicate with suppliers for technical discussions.
Develop strategies to transfer complex PCBs to local suppliers, managing this with internal R&D.
Good GD&T knowledge and ability to interpret drawings.
Detail-oriented and able to efficiently organize information.
Effective multitasking skills and the ability to take on additional responsibilities as required.
Demonstrates discretion, confidentiality, independent judgment, and professionalism.
Able to work with minimal supervision and guidance, exercising discretion and independent judgment.
Understanding of and ability to use continuous improvement tools.
Working knowledge of productivity tools, including Microsoft Office products and team conferencing software.
Proficient in MS Office, specifically with MS Excel.
Experience working with MRP/ERP systems.
