Position Summary Summary The Buyer is responsible to executes the process of low complexity ordering of goods, supplies, equipment, and services in accordance with prescribed purchasing policies, regulations, and procedures. The Buyer is expected to understand the schedules, risks to orders and manages a supplier's individual order performance to requirements. Monitors and reports status and progress of orders to procurement leaders. This position will be reporting to the Operations Manager and based in Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia. Duties & Responsibilities Duties and Responsibilities include (but are not limited) to the following: CORE FUNCTION ¿Plan, negotiate, and execute purchase agreements with domestic and international suppliers. ¿Establish and maintain vendor relationships. ¿Evaluate vendor performance and assist with maintenance of approved supplier list. ¿Place orders in accordance with engineering specifications and other requirements. ¿Negotiate price and delivery to meet project requirements. Expedite orders as needed to ensure that delivery dates are met. ¿Understand and interpret technical data to prepare and issue Requests for Quotes (RFQs). Analyze quotes to select or recommend suppliers. ¿Attend and participate in project meetings relating to procurement. ¿Adhere to Quality Management System. ¿Resolve receiving problems that may include quality issues, rejected materials or shipments, and part number discrepancies. ¿Resolve material and part returns due to warranty claims, incorrect shipments, or freight damage. Submit claims for carrier freight damage. ¿Work with Accounting Department to solve complex problems pertaining to procurement. ¿Additional duties as assigned. REQUIRED ·Minimum bachelor's degree with 3 to 5 years of relevant experience as Buyer or similar position. ·Up to date knowledge of purchasing practices and procedures. ·Excellent knowledge of local content law with hands-on experience in sourcing material, products, services, andcommodities in and outside of Malaysia. Strong communication and influencing skills. Strong analytical and decision-making abilities DESIRED ·Experience with PeopleSoftis a plus. ·Strong knowledge of computer software such as Microsoft tools, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. ·Ability to work in a remote area supporting different business sectors with fast-paced environment with on-time delivery as a priority in and outside of Malaysia.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other CharacteristicsRequired Skills and Aptitudes Ability to work in a team environment, remaining attentive to ideas, recognizing responsibilities, and actively participating with others to accomplish assignments and achieve desired goal.
