SBM Offshore is currently recruiting for aPiping Material Engineer .
ROLE PURPOSE
The Piping Materials Engineer has the technical responsibility for all piping materials including specialty items. As the Piping Materials Engineer, you utilize your technical knowledge to develop safe and quality solutions in support of project and discipline requirements with minimal guidance. You ensure successful resolution of technical issues to meet project and discipline deliverables. The Piping Materials Engineer works in conjunction with Piping Discipline Lead Materials, Other Discipline Leads, Supply Chain and Construction to seek continuous improvement in both quality and efficiency of work.
ROLE CONTRIBUTION
In order to support technical solutions with a cross-disciplinary approach YOU ARE TO:
1.1. Demonstrate good technical knowledge to ensure technical solutions account for design factors such as constructability, installability, operability, vendor capability, as well as schedule and budgetary constraints.
1.2. Utilize technical knowledge to identify gaps between the design solution and known product specifications; recommend best alternative solution(s).
1.3. Utilize SBM Products knowledge and how each product relates to the various disciplines to minimize the negative impact on the completion of key project milestones. SBM has Group Technical Standard need to be followed.
1.4. Communicate the changes that impact the completion of key project milestones to all stakeholders.
1.5. Proactively provide Piping Discipline Lead Materials with updates regarding activity status, highlight concerns as they arise, and provide guidance to support other Discipline Lead to stay within the allocated budget on the project.
In order to ensure relevant issues for project are successfully resolved YOU ARE TO:
2.1. Utilize established network to resolve technical issues; if issue is outside area of expertise, partner with SBM Technical Expert or Technical Authority to provide Piping Discipline Lead Material with recommendation or alternative resources to resolve issues.
2.2. Apply technical knowledge as required to build confidence in Discipline capabilities.
2.3. Ensure lessons learned are documented to enable information sharing on future projects.
To ensure technical quality and safety of engineering deliverables YOU ARE TO:
3.1. Actively share experience/knowledge with peers and participate in all applicable project engineering reviews.
3.2. Challenge technical solutions to ensure all options have been considered and promote best approach; apply expertise in the practical application of new technology in industry.
3.3. Collaborate with Piping Discipline Lead Material to propose/optimize methodology regarding how to execute the tasks within the framework of project requirements.
3.4. Ensure activities are completed in compliance with applicable policies, codes, standards, regulations and industry practices.
3.5. Promote continuous improvement within the Discipline by maintaining/sharing the latest industry developments.
Scope responsibility:
Package Engineering TBE, TC and vendor data review.
Specification and Datasheet preparation and review.
Piping List preparation and review.
Piping Bulk Management preparation and review.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Must have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Professional Engineer Certification is preferred.
Minimum of 7 years relevant experience in the design and engineering of topsides modules (fixed offshore platforms or floating offshore structures such as FPSO's and/or Semi Submersibles).
Knowledge of ABS, API, ASME, ASTM codes and standards is required.
Good technical know-how and overview throughout his discipline.
Aveva Engineering tools experience is an added value.
