Under the guidance and supervision of the Director/Deputy Director, the Communications Officer is responsible for providing communications support to the work of the Centre for IMT-GT Subregional Cooperation (CIMT) to ensure clear, coherent and consistent communications on CIMT and IMT-GT's strategic focus and activities to stakeholders and the public.
Duties include developing and implementing CIMT communications strategy; producing and disseminating communications materials such as publications, newsletters, digital content; and designing and managing CIMT website.
The Communication Officer also provides hands-on support to the communications needs of CIMT programmes, projects and activities.
Additionally, the Communication Officer is also expected to coordinate with IT service providers to ensure effective functioning of IT infrastructure, including servers, networks and security systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Media and Communications
Develop and implement an effective CIMT communications strategy to strategically and innovatively communicate the work of CIMT to a broad range of stakeholders.
Create public information content including audio-visual and social media content for CIMT's website, social media accounts, newsletter, infographics, fact sheets, press releases, and print publications.
Manage CIMT's website and social media accounts ensuring information is relevant, clearly presented, and continuously updated.
Gather information actively about all CIMT's projects/activities and issue articles/short summaries ready to be published.
Typeset, design, and layout documents for print and web publications using Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat Pro.
Coordinate the production of communication materials and publications, including scoping requirements with stakeholders, designing and developing content (written materials, images, video, and audio), and disseminating the final product.
Develop and maintain media outreach with key media outlets and journalists in the region to ensure comprehensive exposure of CIMT's activities and initiatives.
Monitor and survey IMT-GT news coverage in all media, including social media platforms.
Assist in the preparation of relevant meetings, workshops, and other public events.
Perform other related tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
IT Support
Manage Content Management System (CMS) platform for website management (e.g., WordPress).
Ensure effective functioning of the hardware and software packages for all CIMT staff by working closely with IT service providers.
Coordinate with IT service providers to ensure efficient IT infrastructure management, including servers, networks, and security systems.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree or higher in communications, journalism, marketing, media studies, information management, information technology, or related fields.
Minimum 3 years of working experience in corporate communications and promotions, including web design and development.
Experience in developing and implementing communications strategies/plans.
Experience in information management, website, and social media management.
Experience in developing and nurturing relationships with media outlets and journalists.
Skills and Competencies
Proficiency in visual design tools and editing tools and applications (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Canva).
Proficiency in creating compelling content, including PowerPoint presentations, graphic design, photography, videography, and editing.
Strong knowledge in website development and management, database management, and IT hardware, including application and troubleshooting.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and video conferencing platforms (e.g., Zoom, MS Teams, Google Meet, etc.).
Excellent command of written and spoken English.
Excellent proofreading and copy-editing skills.
Self-motivated and ability to work independently and in a team in a multicultural environment.
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work efficiently within strict deadlines.
Strong organisational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
