The Brasserie Restaurant on Grand Cayman Island in the Caribbean is currently accepting applications for the position of Cook.
The successful candidate will report to the Head Chef and assist with the preparation, production, and serving of fine dining items, as well as daily hot specials, salads, and sandwiches during lunch service as needed.
The Cook will also be responsible for maintaining a safe, orderly, and sanitized workspace.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Prepare basic components of each dish on the menu following established recipes
Memorize and consistently use portion sizes and basic meal preparation procedures
Assist in the preparation of fine dining dishes and menu items for The Brasserie and Market
Ensure the kitchen, food prep areas, and food storage areas meet restaurant cleanliness standards
Collaborate with the cooking team to prepare portions for other shifts as required
Monitor product freshness and rotate inventory according to the restaurant's schedule
Follow instructions from the sous chef, reporting and communicating effectively
Manage assigned station on the fine dining line during service
Applicant Requirements:
Graduate of an internationally recognized culinary school
Minimum of 3 years' experience in fine dining, with skills in grill/line, cold station, and pastry
Ability to work split shifts, starting as early as 6:00 am
Proficiency in English (speaking, writing, and comprehension)
Strong communication and teamwork abilities
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Ability to work calmly under pressure while maintaining professionalism
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
Strong time management and task prioritization skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Energetic, enthusiastic, adaptable, and willing to take on new tasks
Availability to work split shifts from 6:30 am on weekdays
Ability to work weekends and public holidays when required
