JOB DESCRIPTION Job title: Country Lead Engineer Reports to: direct to Country Manager, functionally to APAC Engineering VP

Working location: Adient Alar Gajah or Shah Alam

Job Purpose:

- Provide competent technical support to automotive seating development, launch, and program management and be a key contact point to Adient Malaysia Japanese customers and partners. Lead our Engineering centre and manage people and key activities to improving costs, product safety and quality, and processes.

Responsibilities

- Develops the technical skills / knowledge and provides technical direction. Manages the design and processes for a specific project, program to meet current and future requirement across our product portfolio: seat complete, foam, trim, structure and mechanism
- Executes robust design / design changes to provide the highest quality in the build and assembly of prototype parts with the agreed-to process. Assure quality, on time release of PLUS deliverables for Engineering outputs
- Define and support testing requirements and lead root cause analysis in the resolution of any test failures. Reviews the 8D analysis with the appropriate engineering and cross functional resources to resolve issues. Ensures the appropriate management teams are aware of any potential safety concern
- Supports technical design reviews and development of technical solutions to define and meet business objectives (cost, functional performance, timing, weight and investment targets)
- Supports the program/product engineering budget, provides solutions to meet all technical issues and works with team to ensure program time and cost objectives are met
- Be key liaison and interface with regards to technical issues on program launches and development phases with focus on Japanese customers and partners
- Manages program engineering budgets and ensure recovery targets are met
- Provide program engineering budget for target business list to commercial team and ensure optimization at design phases
- Meet VAVE targets per profit plan commitment
- Lead VAVE workshops to drive cost down
- Implements and facilitates the use of BBP in engineering
- Manage and continuously develop team’s technical capabilities. Work with regional tech centres to leverage capabilities and capacities
- • Communicate effectively with cross functional and management teams

Requirements:

- Bachelor degree or above with major in Engineering or Technical field
- 10+ years of automotive experience in related field, 2+ years technical execution/management experience (prefer Adient experience in Phase 1-5 development)
- Experience in multiple disciplines within Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) development process / development standards
- Strong technical background and be familiar with engineering & design tool, such as DFMEA / DOE / Pdfss, PDM, CAD, etc
- Six Sigma and understanding of design for manufacturing an Lean Engineering concepts is helpful
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to all levels in the organization
- Self-motivated, disciplined, independent and mature personality
- Fluent in both Japanese and English
- Willingness to travel internationally and flexible on schedule
