Based in Global Maritime's Malaysia office, the Country Manager will report to the Regional Manager for APAC and will hold line management responsibility for Global Maritime.
To ensure that the Global Maritime Malaysia operation achieves the set strategic objectives in the most effective and efficient manner. To be accountable for the overall performance of the company and for the day to day running and management of the Global Maritime Malaysia operation and, under delegated authority from the RM APAC to provide leadership and direction to staff.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities To be responsible for implementing and maintaining of the Company's Quality Control requirements and Health and Safety working practices in liaison with the Global HSEQ Manager. To meet or exceed financial targets and budgets as agreed with senior management. To maintain the headcount to meet the expected growth target set by senior management and Business Stream Directors (BSD). To work towards the mission and the strategic operational and growth objectives of the Global Maritime organization. To develop new business for the company to ensure the growth and progress of the company. Lead local sales pursuits in connection with the relevant BSD's, introduce the company to new potential clients and customers and manage and develop key client relationships. Responsible for compliance with local legislation. Embrace the company values and strive to instill this on staff. To manage and motivate staff and the managers of CGM. Preparation of the specific annual business plan in liaison with the Regional Manager, Financial Controller, BSD's, CFO and CEO. Oversee, in close liaison with the Global and local HR, the process of recruiting and retaining employees for the operation to ensure that the standard (the brand) of the company never deteriorates. Ensure there are sufficient resources to discharge accountabilities and the requirements of the business and to provide for succession planning. Manage the profit and loss ensuring that the operation is making adequate profits and competently manages its cash-flow position with tight control of invoicing (in a prompt and accurate manner) and ensuring timely payment of debtor invoices. To liaise effectively with and report to the APAC Regional Manager on vital information on the overall performance of the operation. Manages own area effectively and promotes team working across all departments and offices. Communicates effectively and professionally with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders. Actively markets GM services and seeks new opportunities. Develops Methodologies and strategies for Projects. Effectively manages resources and workload and takes responsibility for managing client expectations for service delivery. Uses an understanding of client requirements and commercial risks to define the balance between quality and cost for department. Applies an understanding of group and company goals in defining and delivering team objectives. Specific Skills, Knowledge and Experience required Proven track record of working in the offshore industry. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Effective management and leadership skills. Experience in contract negotiations and business terms. Excellent problem solving and negotiating skills. Commitment to customer service. Confident and self-motivated, works proactively and is focused on delivering team objectives. Job Description The key dimensions of the role include:
Health and safety In conjunction with the Global HSEQ Manager, ensure the Company's Health and Safety Policy is implemented and executed. Ensure the Company's safety related statistics are maintained and that the Company's accreditation is maintained by the approving authority. Ensure a suitable and safe working environment is provided for all staff and visitors.
Department Management Administration Chair weekly Management Meetings with the Department Managers/Core Team with a focus on business improvement. Respond effectively to any issues that arise and require action. Ensure any actions on Managers or staff are carried out in a timely manner. Produce minutes for each meeting. Monitor productivity of each Department chargeable densities, worked manhours and invoicing progress. Monitor Budget Performance (sales and cost control). Report KPI's on Departmental performance to the Regional Manager.
Department Operations management Ensure all departments are meeting their growth (recruitment) KPI's. Assist in ensuring departments requirements to efficiently execute their business are met. This includes provision of business tools (software, hardware, training and recruitment) in line with budgeted costs. Encourage and manage inter-Department and inter-Company working and co-operation including Brand Protection (see Quality Control below).
Business Development Working with the Departmental Managers/Core Team, oversee and progress the business development effort (including new business development), production of bids (including control of Contractual Terms in the interest of Company liability protection). Work in close liaison with the HR Department to ensure growth targets (personnel) are met for the Company.
Office Administration Responsible for the day-to-day running of the office drawing on support from Functional
Managers as required.
Quality Control (Brand Protection) Ensure the Company's BMS is maintained by all personnel within the Company. In collaboration with the Global HSEQ Manager, ensure the Quality Control system is up to date and accredited by the approving authority. Identify and close out any non-conformances identified externally (client complaints) or internally (audits). Ensure that quality is maintained by other offices that provide input/deliverables to the Company. Chair annual Quality management meeting and produce minutes.
Staff Welfare In conjunction with the HR Department, ensure annual staff appraisals are completed in a timely manner. Ensure that any review issues are communicated to the Managers and the Regional Manager. Ensure that reasonable and fair requests by staff (welfare, remuneration or training) are effected. Lead staff retention ethos including mentoring and good working environment and remuneration. Execute annual bonus strategy (in collaboration with Regional Manager).
In collaboration with the Financial Controller, ensure the competent fiscal management of the
operation including:
Project execution, sales revenue, cost control and debt chasing. Overseeing the effective turnover and cash-flow Oversee Department managers to ensure projects are executed and invoiced in a time efficient manner. Liaise with Financial Controller and Credit Controller to ensure debtor invoices are paid on time. In collaboration with the Financial Controller, ensure that the monthly Management Accounts and the annual audited accounts are produced in a timely manner for reporting to the CFO. In collaboration with the Financial Controller and the Group CFO, prepare a specific annual budget and business plan.
