The Opportunity (Overview of the role) The Secondary Cover Teacher will work under the guidance of the Vice Principal for Learning. Their primary role is to provide temporary teaching coverage in the absence of regular teachers, ensuring continuity of education for students.
 
Responsibilities/duties: Temporary Teaching: Take over the teaching responsibilities of absent teachers in various subjects.Follow existing lesson plans and curriculum guidelines.Maintain a positive and supportive learning environment for students.Adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students. Classroom Management: Take a register on iSAMS every lesson.Implement effective classroom management strategies to maintain order and discipline.Establish and enforce clear rules and expectations.Promote a respectful and inclusive learning atmosphere. Student Support: Provide individual assistance and support to students as needed.Monitor student progress and report any concerns to the appropriate HoD/HoF/VP.Encourage student participation and engagement in learning activities.
 Professional Development: Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.Stay updated on current educational trends and best practices.Ensure that all safeguarding training is completed annually.Qualifications and Skills: Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.Valid teaching certification.Experience in teaching at the secondary school level.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to adapt to different teaching styles and classroom environments.Strong organisational and time management skills.Additional Requirements: Willingness to travel to school at short notice.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Commitment to providing high-quality instruction to students.Note: This job description is a general outline and may be subject to modification based on the specific needs and requirements of the school.
GENERAL ? The Cover Teacher may be called upon to perform other duties that the Senior Leadership considers reasonable, that are commensurate with the grading and designation of the post.
