The Deputy Plant Manager will support the Plant / Operation Manager in managing all production activities, ensuring smooth and efficient manufacturing processes, optimizing operations to achieve cost efficiency, uphold quality standards, and ensure timely product delivery, that shall include but not limited to:
Leadership and Management:
Support the Plant / Operation Manager in providing strategic leadership and direction to the operations team, including production, quality, Engineering, production control etc according to the established organization chart
Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to ensure efficiency and compliance with industry standards.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the plant.
2. Operation Oversight:
Assist in overseeing daily operations of the manufacturing plant, ensuring production schedules are met and products are delivered on time, smooth execution of engineering projects, production planning, QC inspection process etc
Monitor the whole operation (ie, manufacturing, engineering, production planning, QC etc) metrics and KPIs to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
Coordinate with the planning and logistics departments to ensure smooth workflow and inventory management.
3.Quality Assurance:
Work on behalf of the Plant / Operations Manager in ensuring all products meet quality standards and specifications. Able to implement and maintain quality control processes and procedures, as well as working closely with the quality assurance team to address any quality issues and implement preventive measures.
4. Process Improvement:
Analyze production processes to identify inefficiencies and areas for cost reduction.
Implement lean manufacturing principles and other process improvement methodologies.
Lead initiatives to reduce waste, improve productivity, and enhance overall operational efficiency.
5.Safety and Compliance:
Drive compliance to all safety regulations and company policies.
Promote a safe working environment and lead safety training programs.
Conduct regular safety audits and implement corrective actions as needed.
6.Budget and Cost Management:
Support the Plant / Operation Manager in developing and managing the operations budget, including labor, materials, and overhead costs etc.
Monitor expenses and implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality or safety.
Prepare regular financial and operational reports for senior management.
7.Team Development:
Responsible to recruit, train, and develop a high-performing operations team.
Driving staff training & development program to achieve the pre-defined schedule objective
Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback and coaching to team members.
Promote teamwork and collaboration across departments.
Achievement of objectives must include an overriding commitment to quality that must permeate the areas of responsibility.
Enable and Drive Change in the Organization.
Undertake other role & responsibilities that are assigned by the company and immediate superior from time to time until full closure.
REQUIREMENTS / SKILLSET:
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or other related field.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in manufacturing operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the equipment fabrication or surface treatment industry (where applicable).
Strategic thinker with a strong background in equipment fabrication or surface treatment (where applicable), production management, and process improvement.
Proven experience in implementing lean manufacturing principles and other process improvement methodologies.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Experience with ISO 9001 or other quality management systems.
Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and compliance standards.
