ISP Malaysia
ISP Malaysia operates the Tenby Schools, Asia Pacific Schools and Straits International Schools where we are strategically located covering the Klang Valley, Perak, Penang and Johor within Malaysia.
Our experience in education excellence helps us provide amazing learning experiences for students as young as 3 years up to 18 years old.
Our schools in Malaysia follow the international school curriculum comprising IGCSE and A-levels, starting at the kindergarten level, while 5 of the schools also offer the Malaysian National Curriculum.

ISP EAL Teaching Assistant Role Profile
Purpose of Role
EAL staff at Tenby Schools Penang are expected to ensure high quality educational support for all EAL students to improve English Language acquisition.
The post-holder is expected to conduct themselves in an appropriate professional manner at all times to support and foster the aims of the School and SLT.
Successful applicants will need to use initiative to produce resources that support students in mainstream classes, enabling them to access the lessons that are planned by the teachers.

ISP EAL Teaching Assistant Key Responsibilities
Leading small groups of pupils within a whole class setting that is led and managed by a member of the teaching staff
Establishing relationships with other staff members in order to support work of pupils
Attending staff meetings and contributing to the development of the school
Assisting teachers in developing resources for lessons to ensure accessibility for EAL students
Preparing and developing resources for learning activities
Reporting on the progress made by pupils
Improve English Language acquisition across both the primary and secondary sections of the school.
Ensure that the EAL needs of individual students are met
Ensure that EAL support is holistic and cross-curricular where appropriate
Ensure that parents have clear and accurate information about their child's progress.
Knowledge and Understanding: (Training will be given.)
Become familiar with the schemes of learning in a range of subjects in Key Stage, in order to develop resources to ensure the learning is accessible for EAL students.
Be familiar with Health and Safety issues and Behaviour Management Plan for individual students, where applicable.
Be familiar with the referral process for learning support at Tenby Schools Penang and the identification and assessment of EAL needs.
Planning for support:
The post holder will provide inclusive and appropriate support for students for whom English is an additional language
Plan and develop differentiated approaches to facilitate access to the curriculum for bilingual students.
Where circumstances require, participate in co-operative/partnership teaching, individual student support and/or small group collaborative learning.
Collaborate with the Head of Learning Support, teachers, parents and others to ensure that EAL students receive the most appropriate support and resources.
Monitoring, Assessment, Recording and Reporting:
The EAL teaching assistant will be accountable to the Head of Learning Support for professional and operational matters.
Support the assessment and reporting of the development of bilingual students in collaboration with class teachers and others where appropriate.
Participate in future planning, raising achievement and individual review of EAL students.
Encourage and promote students' bilingualism and positive links between home and school.
Contribute to staff development on the most appropriate strategies, approaches, and resources for EAL students.
Other Professional Requirements:
Set a good example to students through presentation, personal and professional conduct, following the School dress code for all staff.
Be proactive in matters relating to health and safety.
Be aware of child protection and safety procedures.
Be well organised, proactive and manage time effectively.
Support the School's behaviour code and uniform regulations.
Have a working knowledge of school policies and procedures.
Participate in meetings which may relate to the curriculum, administration or organisation of the School, including pastoral issues and arrangements.
Establish and maintain effective and professional working relationships with colleagues.
Build and maintain co-operative relationships with parents and students.
Undertake other duties as the Principal may reasonably direct.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
Appropriate child-focused qualification (eg nursery nursing, teaching assistant qualification)
At least two to three years' relevant experience in a school setting (desirable)
A passion for children and a belief in the education of the 'whole child'
High levels of professionalism and care for children
Excellent oral and written English
Have excellent classroom practice or demonstrate the potential to develop this
The ability to speak Korean or Mandarin would be an advantage but is not essential
