Economic Analyst

This is a sell-side economist position attached to the equity research department.
Work involves performing as an expert and a go-to person of a country(s) macroeconomics as assigned by the Head.
This role supports both internal equity team and external clients by undertaking relevant economic surveillance, presenting analysis and forecasts, and providing a framework to analyze investment opportunities and threats.
These views will be delivered through frequent research reports, direct contact, and via formal presentations and meetings with clients and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Forecasting macroeconomic and financial variables, as well as other indicators that are relevant to the business.
Produce periodical economic reports including monthly, quarterly, and annual publications i.e.
GDP, Inflation, Trade, Monetary Policy, Fiscal Budget etc.
Prepare analytical presentations for wide range of internal and external clients, as well as conduct the presentations.
Write thematic research on specific topics that add value to clients and stakeholders.
Maintain and update economic databases.
Respond to ad-hoc client requests and other requests as directed by the Head.
Requirements:
Having 2-8 years of working experience in relevant field.
Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Finance/Banking, Statistics or any other relevant field.
Strong academic background with advanced knowledge in economics.
Required skills:
Able to apply variousstatistical techniquesto carry out data analysis.
Basic knowledge in the use ofeconometrics applicationis an advantage.
Mandatory basic knowledge inMS Office (i.e.
Word, Power Point, Excel).Advanced applied knowledge in Excel formulas & functions is an advantage.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Domain knowledge in financial services industry is a strong advantage.
Language:
English - strong communications and writing skills is required.
Mandarin - good to have for liaison purposes with stakeholder.
Personal Attributes:
Inquisitive, keen intellect, and a mindset for knowledge.
Ability to work under time-sensitive deadlines.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
