Our client is an established MNC in the oleochemical industry.
They are expanding their refinery operations in East Malaysia and are currently looking for someone to lead the Electrical and Instrumentation maintenance and projects for the plant.
Job Description
Develop and implement strategies to enhance the reliability and performance of electrical and instrumentation systems.
Collaborate with senior management to align E&I objectives with overall business goals.
Conduct long-term planning for equipment upgrades, plant expansions, and new technology implementation.
Manage preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs for electrical and instrumentation systems.
Ensure maximum uptime of equipment by troubleshooting and resolving technical issues in a timely manner.
Lead root cause analysis and implement solutions for recurring E&I issues.
Maintain and update documentation, including electrical schematics, loop diagrams, and control narratives.
Oversee the design, installation, and commissioning of new E&I projects, from planning to completion.
Evaluate and approve technical specifications, drawings, and vendor proposals.
Coordinate with internal teams and external contractors to ensure project objectives and timelines are met.
Ensure compliance with local regulations, international standards, and company policies (such as DOSH, IEC, IEEE).
Promote a culture of safety by implementing safe work practices, training staff, and conducting regular safety audits.
Participate in HAZOP and risk assessment reviews to identify and mitigate operational risks.
Lead and develop the E&I team by providing technical training, mentorship, and continuous improvement opportunities.
Monitor team performance, identify skills gaps, and drive professional development.
Evaluate and manage contracts with vendors and service providers, ensuring high-quality and cost-effective solutions.
Optimize E&I budgets by implementing cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or safety.
Monitor and maintain spare parts inventory to ensure parts availability while managing costs.
The Successful Applicant
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related field.
Minimum 8-10 years of experience in Electrical & Instrumentation roles, with at least 3 years in a managerial capacity.
Experience in the oleochemical, chemical, or manufacturing industry is highly preferred.
Strong understanding of process automation systems, including PLC, DCS, and SCADA systems.
Proficient in interpreting electrical and instrumentation drawings and P&IDs.
Familiarity with international electrical codes and standards, such as IEC and IEEE.
Knowledge of energy management systems and sustainable practices.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to manage and inspire teams.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying improvements.
