About the roleThe Japanese School of Kuala Lumpur is seeking an experienced Electro Mechanical Technician to join our team in Shah Alam, Selangor. This is a full-time role that will play a vital part in maintaining and servicing the school's mechanical and electrical equipment, ensuring the smooth and safe operation of our facilities.
What you'll be doing
Assist in preventive and corrective maintenance on building facilities, and utility equipment/systems.
Troubleshoot and provide technical support within your capacity or contact service provider for the service, repair, and maintenance of all facilities including electrical, Gen set, lighting, CCTV, LPG systems, mechanical, civil & structure, plumbing & sanitary, drinking water dispenser, WCPU chiller, AC, air-conditioning equipment, fire prevention systems (hose reel pump, sprinkler, smoke spill), sewage systems, lift, and mechanical pumps (swimming pool).
Coordinate monthly servicing and facilities monitoring activities – fire system, AC system, sewage, pest control, swimming pool, waste management, etc., and general building repairs.
Coordinate with maintenance staff and follow up with facility service contractors such as Air-Cond, Lift, Fire-fighting, Plumbing, CCTV, and other contractors during new installation and repair work.
Assist in maintenance work done by contractors to comply with local regulatory, corporate safety, and industrial standards.
Ensure safe practices & compliance, accuracy, and up-to-date maintenance record keeping.
Respond to emergency calls for any troubleshooting required on site.
Provide technical support and guidance to other members of the facilities team.
Able to work additional hours as assigned by superiors or Management from time to time.
What we're looking for
Min qualification: Diploma in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical, or equivalent related field.
3 to 5 years of hands-on experience as an Electro Mechanical Technician and coordinating building repairs, maintenance, renovation, or relevant works in building/facilities maintenance & management work scope.
Experience in handling building facilities services and systems such as electrical, mechanical, AC, motors, pumps, plumbing, civil & structure, field, garden, and landscape machinery.
Strong working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems.
Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
Ability to work independently as well as initiate leadership among members of the maintenance & facilities team.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with team members and relevant contractors.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals and diagrams.
Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word will be an added advantage.
