Purpose of Role
Secondary English Teacher
Secondary school teachers facilitate learning by establishing a relationship with pupils and organizing learning resources and the classroom environment to ensure the delivery of the education programme within the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching the Secondary curriculum;
Taking responsibility for the progress of a class of Secondary pupils;
Organising the classroom and learning resources to create a positive learning environment;
Planning, preparing, and presenting lessons that cater for the needs of the whole ability range;
Motivating pupils with enthusiastic, imaginative lessons;
Maintaining discipline;
Preparing and marking work to facilitate positive pupil development;
Meeting requirements for the assessment and recording of pupils' development;
Providing feedback to parents and carers on a pupil's progress;
Coordinating activities and resources within a specific area of the curriculum;
Planning and running a weekly CCA;
Becoming involved in organizing at least one whole school event.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
• Appropriate degree and teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, Bachelor of Education);
• At least two to three years' relevant teaching experience;
• A passion for teaching and a belief in the education of the 'whole child';
• High levels of professionalism and care for children;
• Excellent oral and written English;
• Good in both Mandarin and English as needed to support China and Taiwan students;
• Excellent subject knowledge of the English National Curriculum.
