Malaysia - Regional Office
Our Role:
Based in our SEA Regional office in KL and reporting to the Project Engineering Manager - Asia Pacific, the EPC Project Manager is responsible for supporting all capital expenditure projects across Graymont, providing engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and, for most typical projects, project management. Additionally, they are also responsible for identifying appropriate resources needed, assembling project teams, assigning individual responsibilities, and developing schedules to ensure timely completion of projects to meet business needs.
This position is the EPC Lead (engineering, procurement, and construction) on multiple capital projects at any given time across the APAC region. This person must be able to work effectively on cross-functional teams to execute EPC within agreed EPC schedules and budgets and lead others. This position can also act as Project Manager on projects and as such, be responsible for all aspects of the project over its entire lifespan (initiate, plan, execute, monitor & control, close).
Key Focus Areas The Role Will Include:
Promote safety as the #1 priority on projects and throughout the organization & coordinate health and safety and environmental requirements with engineering and construction contractors.
Support Project Owners in the management of projects in the SEA region, ensuring project objectives are achieved and quality results and value are delivered through consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
Support Project Managers in the development, engineering, procurement, and construction of major projects, ensuring project objectives are achieved and quality results and value are delivered through consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
Support in the development of project schedules and detailed estimates & lead and direct internal and/or external engineering resources.
Prepare equipment bid package & prepare general construction contractor or multiple construction contractor bid packages.
Vet equipment and contractor bids and make recommendations.
Oversee procurement and construction & coordinate construction with existing operation.
Oversee QA/QC inspection on all equipment, materials, and construction.
Monitor construction progress and support progress reporting.
Manage risks and issues, mitigating threats and optimizing opportunities, on assigned projects.
Support project commissioning and handover to operations.
Responsible for meeting project EPC schedules and budgets & manage stakeholder communications.
Responsible for ensuring all engineering, procurement, and construction is done in conformance with Graymont standards and specifications.
Work with plants in the region to develop and promote ideas from problem definition to options analysis and into project planning and CAPEX approval.
Support the Director of Project Engineering and APAC EPC Manager in developing and communicating EPC best practices throughout the Organization.
Demonstrate commitment to the One Graymont culture.
Frequent travel required, up to 50%.
Ideally, the successful candidate will have the following attributes and qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical) or equivalent qualifications.
Demonstrated experience in project management and in management of technical teams.
Outstanding communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively.
Possess a solid understanding of engineering fundamentals.
Basic financial management skills (estimating and cost control).
PMP Certification or equivalent is an asset.
Construction management experience and certificates is an asset.
Experience in the mining industry is an asset.
