Executive - Electricity Market OperationsResponsible to assist in ensuring the energy industry is operated in a fair, transparent and orderly manner which includes but not limited to the following activities:
Enforce and monitor compliance of Grid System Operator and/or Distribution System Operator to the industry codes and legislations.
Undertake studies in relation to market operation and provide inputs on industry issues, market mechanism and operation, fair-play and competition.
Audit and identify any shortcomings, deficiency, unfair practices or abuse of monopolistic power of the Grid System Operator and/or Distribution System Operator and where necessary conduct simulation using relevant tools.
Ensure fairness, transparency and non-discriminatory conduct of the Grid System Operator (GSO), Distribution System Operator etc.
Review the relevant agreements such as PPA and make appropriate recommendations as and when necessary.
Monitor market performance and implementation of NEDA rules, contributing to the effective operation and compliance of the electricity market.
Operate tools for daily market monitoring and dispatch operation, collect data and information and ensure compliance to legislation, codes and guidelines.
REQUIREMENTS:
Possess at least a Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering/ Energy Management or related field from a University accredited by the Government; Applicants with a master degree shall be of advantage;
Minimum three (3) years working experience in the energy sector, particularly in regulatory roles, market operations, or compliance monitoring, or a related field;
Experience working with Grid System Operators (GSO) and/or Distribution System Operators (DSO) would be highly valuable;
Familiarity with the Electricity Market and understanding of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and other industry contracts is important.
Possess good interpersonal skills and strong analytical skills;
Possess a positive outlook, disciplined and results-oriented; AND
Eloquent in Bahasa Malaysia and English language, both written and spoken.

ABOUT THE ENERGY COMMISSION:
A statutory body established under the Energy Commission Act 2001, Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) or the Energy Commission is responsible for regulating the energy sector, specifically the electricity and piped gas supply industries, in Peninsular Malaysia.
Taking over the role of the Department of Electricity and Gas Supply, the Energy Commission started its operation on January 1, 2002.
The main focus of the commission are reliable electricity and gas supply, reasonable costs and safety.
The roles of the Energy Commission is divided into three, namely Economic Regulation, Technical Regulation and Safety Regulation.
Economic Regulation:
To promote economy in the generation, transmission, distribution, supply and use of electricity and in the reticulation and use of gas; promote competition; enable fair and efficient market conduct and prevent the misuse of monopoly or market power in the electricity and piped gas industries.
Technical Regulation:
To ensure security, reliability, efficiency and quality of supply and services in the electricity and piped gas supply industries.
Safety Regulation:
To protect the industry, consumers and public from dangers arising from the generation, transmission, distribution, supply and use of electricity and the distribution, supply and use of piped gas.
