Job Summary: Responsible for identifying ESH problems, ensuring compliance with Environment, Safety & Health (ESH) legal requirements, hospital policies/procedures, and other accreditation/ISO requirements. Overall responsibility includes training on ESH matters and conducting fire drills.
Duties & Responsibilities: Assist the Assistant Manager, ESH in planning, monitoring, implementing, and improving ESH-related issues throughout the hospital.Monitor all ESH issues centrally and make recommendations in liaison with the Senior Manager to HODs and Divisional Heads for corrective or preventive actions.Perform routine surveillance of the hospital compound to ensure a safe environment by reducing occupational hazards and environmental aspects within hospital premises.Conduct investigations of significant ESH-related issues to determine root causes and recommend risk reduction measures.Liaise with relevant departments to maintain a safe working environment and comply with Chemical Health Risk Issues, USECHH regulations, and OSHA regulations.Liaise with relevant government bodies (DOSH, BOMBA, etc.) for up-to-date information on compliance with national regulations.Conduct and coordinate training for employees on ESH issues related to occupational hazards and environmental impact.Coordinate and act as secretary in the ESH committee of the hospital.Collect, analyze data, and prepare regular reports. Maintain all records of ESH issues for audit purposes.Respond to emergency situations like fire and disaster, liaising with Security, Facility Management Personnel, and relevant national bodies to control the situation.Stay updated on environmental, occupational, and health changes within national and global practices.Assist in updating hospital policies and procedures related to ESH matters.Participate in other hospital activities as needed.Carry out any other duties deemed necessary by the superior.Engage in the department and hospital quality indicators.Job Requirements: Qualifications/Experience Required: Degree or Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health certified by relevant national authorities.Safety and Health Officer Certificate from NIOSH or other recognized teaching bodies.1 – 3 years of working experience in the field of Occupational Safety & Health.Added advantage if familiar with OHSAS 18001.Other Additional Requirements: Registered with DOSH.Good interpersonal and communication skills.Computer literate with analytical skills.
