Expense Analyst

Job PurposeSupport the regular performance management processes for the total company - General and Life segments business unit's expenses (Conventional and Takaful), providing sound financial analysis and enhanced business insight.
Job Responsibilities
Complete regular monitoring of expense accounts, to ensure expenses are parked appropriately to the respective accounts.
Monitor recharges from Region, Group and shared services.
Prepare monthly expense accruals.
Prepare monthly expenses and FTE reporting with insightful commentary.
Provide variance analysis and commentary on comparisons for Group, Regional and Local regulatory reporting.
Provide input for monthly expense forecasts, ensuring inputs from stakeholders such as HR, IT CREWS, and respective cost centre owners are prudent.
Liaise with Financial Accounting team to ensure the accuracy of monthly financial results submission.
Analyse financial data and highlight any abnormalities to the line manager.
Assist in writing commentaries for monthly performance packs and relevant segment reporting levels.
Provide solutions to queries from stakeholders.
Assist in the annual planning exercise by working closely with business functions to develop robust expense plans.
Be proactive in bringing value to the business by enhancing the monthly reporting processes and providing insightful analysis.
Respond to ad-hoc expense queries.
Key RelationshipsMaintain a good relationship with respective cost centre owners, HR, and other Finance teams, such as accounting and operations.
Qualifications/Experience
Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Law or equivalent.
Minimum of 3 years of working experience in a relevant role.
Experience in the insurance industry is preferred.
Skills/Knowledge
Proficiency in balance sheet and Income Statement knowledge.
Good analysis and writing skills for commentary.
Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Good sense of urgency and ability to work under pressure.
Basic knowledge in SAP.
Excellent Excel skills.
