Extrusion Supervisor/Technician

The Production Extrusion Supervisor/Technician will be responsible for leading a team of extrusion operators and technicians, ensuring the efficient operation of extrusion machines, and maintaining high standards of product quality and safety.
Qualifications & Experience:
Minimum Diploma in polymer technology, engineering (chemical, mechanical, electrical or mechatronic) or another equivalent field.
At least 2 years of industrial/manufacturing experience in extrusion or related plastic technology field.
Must have extrusion/injection moulding knowledge.
Ability to communicate efficiently verbally and in writing with coworkers and supervisors.
Ability to work rotating shifts, overtime, and weekends, including operating facility alone on nights and weekends.
Knowledgeable and experienced in basic plant maintenance, inspection and routine operation checking from the aspect of process, equipment, instrumentation and control.
Good command of both oral and written local language is required.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide support in the production department, but not limited to:
Team Management:
Supervise and manage extrusion staff, including operators and technicians.
Assign tasks and monitor the performance of workers.
Ensure team adherence to company policies and procedures.
Provide training and development to production staff.
Ensure all plant machine operators and workers' working hours are within allowable range and plan operations accordingly.
Production Planning and Operations:
Assist the production manager/executive in the overall operation of the extrusion production and processes.
Operate, monitor, control, and conduct site routine inspection for the manufacturing process of production products.
Ensure production meets and achieves operation requirements for extrusion products.
Monitor and record extrusion machine's running parameters and production output.
Conduct product sampling tests to ensure products are within specifications.
Supervise goods receiving and storage, update stock reports, and generate daily stock reports for extrusion area.
Reorder and restock consumables and stock items based on agreeable stock volume.
Troubleshoot extrusion equipment malfunctions and coordinate maintenance and repairs.
Conduct daily, weekly, or monthly stock counts to ensure sufficient consumable and stock items for continuous extrusion activity.
Process Knowledge and Control:
Demonstrate high competency in the entire extrusion processes, including finished products packing and storage, process control interlocking, process equipment limitations, and alarms.
Ensure plant operation according to regulatory practices, emphasizing safety operations, cost efficiency, high production throughput, and minimal plant downtime.
Assist in the root cause analysis of product nonconformance and manage segregation and disposition through reworks.
Maintenance Management:
Carry out daily equipment inspection, including visual inspection of motors and mobile equipment, checking stearic acid consumption, motor oil levels, and rectifying plant operation alarms.
Perform minor repairs on plant equipment and instrumentation to maintain operability when maintenance personnel are unavailable.
Assist maintenance personnel in performing necessary maintenance activities.
Quality Control:
Monitor the quality performance tests on products, review and monitor the test results to ensure the product is within required specifications.
Ensure products are produced within the product specifications.
Address and resolve any quality-related issues promptly.
Health and Safety:
Enforce safety regulations and protocols in the production area.
Conduct safety training and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
Investigate and report any accidents or incidents.
Maintain a clean, safe, and clutter-free work environment.
Know the significant quality, safety & health, and environmental aspects/impacts associated with work.
Reporting:
Maintain accurate extrusion records and documentation.
Prepare and submit production reports (extrusion) to management.
Ensure compliance with regulatory and company documentation requirements.
Perform daily, weekly, or monthly MRP updates as required by management.
Manage inventory of raw materials and extrusion supplies.
Ensure the availability of necessary resources for extrusion.
Coordinate with procurement for timely supply of materials.
Additional Requirements:
Knowledge of ISO13485, FDA regulations, EU MDR is advantageous.
Must be able to sit, stand and/or walk for extended periods.
Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to thrive in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Strong attention to detail and exceptional organisational skills.
Good analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
