Roles:
We are seeking an experienced Failure Analysis Lab Manager (Senior FA Lab Manager) to lead our new laboratory team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the lab, overseeing the analysis of failed components, systems and providing guidance to the team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background of failure analysis methodologies, PCB assembly process, electronics components and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership:
- Recruit and develop a high-performing team of failure analysis engineers and technicians.
- Develop a lab analysis capability roadmap to support the company business growth strategy.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork and knowledge sharing.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to team members, encouraging professional growth and development.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including process engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to resolve product/process issues and improve product reliability.
Lab Management:
- Establish the lab operation system and all analysis procedures according to ISO requirements.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the failure analysis, ensuring efficient workflow and resource utilization.
- Evaluate, purchase, install and buy-off lab equipment, schedule proper operation & technical training for the lab team.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all lab activities, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Manage lab budgets and resources to ensure optimal utilization and cost-effectiveness.
Technical Expertise:
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in failure analysis techniques and industry standards (IPC, J-STD, ASTM etc).
- Provide technical guidance, support and technical training to team members, ensuring accurate and timely analysis results.
- Provide technical advice to engineering & process teams in quality troubleshooting by creating analysis matrix, executing FA, interpreting analysis results, finding potential root causes, defining corrective actions and validating effectiveness.
- Collaborate with external experts and vendors to access specialized equipment and services as needed.
Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in failure analysis, preferably in the electronics industry.
Proven leadership skills, with a track record of managing and developing high-performing teams.
Strong technical knowledge of PCB material & processes, PCB assembly processes, electronic components, and failure analysis methodologies.
Hands-on experience with various failure analysis techniques, including micro-sectioning, DnP, X-Ray inspection, SEM/EDX, Strain measurement, ATC, high temperature-humidity storage, mechanical shock & vibration, and electrical testing.
Good knowledge of warpage measurement of big BGA and PCB and its impact to the assembly performance.
Experience in typical defects or failures in PCB, components and PCBA solder joints.
Deep understanding of solder joint reliability testing and fatigue life modelling and prediction.
Proficiency in data analysis and statistical techniques.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse teams.
Education:
Advanced degree in Chemical Engineering or Materials Science or a related field, or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience.#J-18808-Ljbffr
