As a Game Animator, you will play a crucial role in bringing our game characters, environments, and effects to life. Your job scope will be mainly 2D focused, using Esoteric Spine and game engine animation tools to create fluid, dynamic animations that enhance gameplay and immerse players in our worlds. You will work closely with a talented team of artists, designers, and developers to ensure that your animations are seamlessly integrated into the game and meet the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities: Animation:
Create high-quality animations for characters, environments, and special effects that align with the artistic vision of our games.Utilise Esoteric Spine to create and refine skeletal animations, including rigging and skinning.Collaborate closely with the art director, game designers, and other team members to ensure animations integrate seamlessly into the game.Ensure all animations adhere to the principles of animation (timing, squash and stretch, anticipation, etc.) to deliver fluid and dynamic motion.Quality Assurance:
Ensure the final output meets the highest standards of quality and creativity.Troubleshoot and solve animation-related issues within the game engine.Develop and maintain animations throughout the production pipeline, ensuring consistency and quality from concept to final implementation.Optimise animations for performance and memory efficiency while maintaining visual quality.Stay up-to-date with industry trends and techniques to continually improve animation quality and workflow.Collaboration:
Work closely with other members of the creative team, including game designers, 2D/3D artists, and art directors.Participate in meetings, brainstorm ideas, pitch concepts and respond to feedback.Collaborate effectively to meet project deadlines and client expectations.
Qualifications:
Strong understanding of animation principles and how they apply to game animation.Proven experience working within a game/film animation pipeline.Proficiency with Esoteric Spine software, including experience with rigging, skinning, and creating complex skeletal animations.Strong portfolio demonstrating a range of 2D/3D animation skills, including character and environmental animations.Proficiency with industry-standard animation tools and software (e.g., Esoteric Spine, After Effects, Photoshop).Familiarity with game development tools and engines (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine) is preferred.Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Experience with 3D animation tools and techniques is preferred.Knowledge of current trends in the gaming industry and popular game genres.
