This is an exciting opportunity to join THE CULVERT as our new Head Chef. In this full-time position based in Kuching, Sarawak, you will be responsible for leading and managing all kitchen operations to deliver an exceptional dining experience for our guests. As a key member of our management team, you will play a strategic role in shaping the culinary direction of our restaurant.
What you'll be doing Oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, including menu planning, inventory management, food preparation, and staff supervisionDevelop and refine innovative seasonal menus that showcase locally-sourced, high-quality ingredientsEnsure consistent execution of dishes and maintain the highest standards of food quality and presentationManage, train and mentor a team of skilled chefs and kitchen staff to drive continuous improvementCollaborate with the front-of-house team to enhance the overall dining experienceMonitor and control kitchen budgets to maximise profitabilityMaintain a safe and hygienic kitchen environment in compliance with health and safety regulationsWhat we're looking for Minimum 5 years of experience as a Head Chef or in a senior culinary leadership role, preferably in a high-end restaurant or hotel environmentProven track record of creating and executing successful menus that showcase your expertise in various culinary techniques and flavour profilesStrong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a kitchen brigadeExcellent time management, problem-solving, and organisational skills to ensure the smooth running of the kitchenPassion for using fresh, locally-sourced ingredients and a commitment to sustainable food practicesFamiliarity with food cost control and inventory managementTertiary qualification in Culinary Arts or related field is desirable
