Main Duties/Responsibilities
Strategic and Budgetary Planning
Developing a strategic plan for the School, in consultation with the School members, including the preparation of staffing and resource plan.
Engaging the staff of the School and the senior officers of the College in devising and approving the School's plan.
Reviewing the performance of the School in terms of its objectives as stated in its strategic plan and in its staffing and resource plan.
Take accountability to market all the programs and grow the school which includes leading promotion activities and ensure articulation rate exceed 80%.
Having responsibility on financial matters such as financial planning, resource allocation, the monitoring of expenditure to ensure that it is within appropriate levels, ensuring the linking of resource allocation to strategic and operational planning; compliance with College- approved financial policies; ensuring all staff are aware of the existence and extent of the financial regulations of the College.
Managing and monitoring the implementation of the resource allocation process within the School.
Organize workshops, short courses or other activities that can generate income as new revenue stream.
Staffing
Dealing with staff recruitment matters that fall within the remittance of the School.
Creating a supportive working environment for all staff in the School and fostering their career development.
Allocating duties to staff within the School and the management of staff in accordance with College policies and procedures.
Handling grievance procedures for staff except when a grievance is against the Head of School, in which the case becomes the responsibility of the Head of Academic Affairs.
Assess the teaching delivery of the lecturers.
Teaching and Learning
Having overall responsibility for the management of the programs offered by the School involving teaching and learning and the implementation of the academic policy of the College.
Ensuring the effective delivery of high quality teaching and the maintenance of academic standards.
Promoting a culture of learning that is directed to student needs as well as the needs of the staff.
Dealing with professional matters relevant to the activities of specific disciplines and the educational requirements of professional accreditation bodies.
Fostering the development of academic policy and initiatives within the context of the long-term strategies of the College and the School.
Fostering interdisciplinary within and between Schools.
Promoting innovation, excellence and improvement in all matters of teaching, learning and administration.
Ensuring the regular review, evaluation and development of programs offered by the School.
Ensuring student evaluation exercise is regularly carried out for the courses at the end of each semester.
Promoting collaboration within the School, with other Schools, and with other institutions.
Nominating for External Advisors, External Examiners and Industrial Advisors to the Academic Board for approval.
Qualifications/Skills Required
Master in English Language or related field
Bachelor in English Language or related field
Experiences
At least 5 years working experience in a related field
Teaching experience is a must
Must be able to write and communicate fluently in English
Independent, self-motivated, and able to lead a small team
