Responsible for overseeing the initial planning, design, and development phases of a project, interfacing the Subsurface and Wells teams with the Surface team to lay a strong foundation for managing activities like resource allocation, risk assessment, stakeholder engagement, detailed project scoping, cost, schedule to ensure all project phases run smoothly from FDAP to FEED, Detail Design, Construction, Installation, Commissioning and finally to handover to the Operations & Production Team.
Key responsibilities:
Detailed planning:Creating comprehensive project plans including timelines, budgets, resource requirements, and work breakdown structures.
Team Interfacing:Ensuring synergy between Subsurface requirements and well & completions planning with the right fit development concept.
Technical design:Leading the design and engineering teams to develop project specifications and technical solutions.
Identifying potential risks early on and developing mitigation strategies.
Stakeholder engagement:Communicating effectively with key stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle, including internal teams, regulatory bodies, and external vendors.
Site selection:Evaluating potential locations for project development, considering environmental and geological factors.
Permitting and approvals:Managing the process of obtaining necessary permits and regulatory approvals.
Cost estimation:Developing accurate project cost estimates and managing the budget throughout the planning phase.
Resource allocation:Assigning appropriate personnel and equipment to different project tasks.
Contract management:Negotiating and managing contracts with vendors and contractors.
Environmental impact assessment:Overseeing the environmental impact assessment process and ensuring compliance with regulations.
Key skills for Field Development Manager:
Technical expertise:Strong understanding of the technical aspects related to the project's industry (e.g., drilling, reservoir engineering, geological analysis in oil and gas).
Project management skills:Proficiency in project planning, scheduling, cost control, risk management, and communication.
Leadership abilities:Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage diverse stakeholders.
Analytical skills:Capability to analyse complex data and make informed decisions.
Regulatory knowledge:Familiarity with relevant environmental and regulatory requirements.
