Position Overview The school is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Humanities and Health and Human Development Teacher (Year 9 -12) to join a dynamic faculty team.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in teaching humanities subjects, with expertise in delivering VCE Health and Human Development.
The successful applicant will be passionate about engaging students, fostering critical thinking, and contributing to our vibrant school community.
As well as offering Humanities the ideal candidate will also be able to teach Health and Human Development.
Health and Human Development (HHD) , a unique VCE subject that explores a wide range of social, cultural, and global factors influencing health and wellbeing.
Unlike biology, HHD takes a humanities-oriented approach, focusing on societal impacts, global health issues, and community health systems.
It encourages students to think critically about health in a social context, analyze health-related policies, and understand wellbeing on both individual and societal levels.
This makes it an excellent complement to other humanities subjects.
Key Responsibilities Plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons in VCE Humanities and Health and Human Development that cater to a diverse range of students.
Inspire students to understand and critically evaluate global, social, and health-related issues.
Design and implement assessments that measure student learning and align with VCE curriculum standards.
Encourage critical thinking, ethical reasoning, and collaborative learning within the classroom.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of VCE requirements and adapt teaching strategies to meet these standards.
Provide individual support and feedback to help each student reach their full potential.
Participate actively in the school community through extracurricular activities, school events, and ongoing professional development.
Qualifications and Experience Bachelors degree in Education, Humanities, Health Sciences, or a related field.
Teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, BEd) with recognized certification.
Minimum of 2 years experience teaching VCE Humanities and/or Health and Human Development (preferred).
Experience with international students and/or in an international school setting is a strong advantage.
Key Competencies Strong subject knowledge in VCE Humanities and Health and Human Development.
Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
