Teaching - Secondary (Education & Training)Full timeUCSI International Schools is seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated, and experienced IELP English teacher to join our team. This role is focused on teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) and English B to students aged 12-16 years. The ideal candidate will support students in improving their English proficiency across all four language skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. The teacher will also develop effective and engaging lessons aligned with the school's International Baccalaureate (IB) English B curriculum, if applicable, or other equivalent programs for ESL learners.Key Responsibilities:Instruction & Classroom Management:Deliver engaging and student-centered lessons to students aged 12-16 in English as a Second Language (ESL) and English B, focusing on language development.Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, resources, and technologies to support diverse learning needs.Foster an inclusive classroom environment that encourages active student participation, collaboration, and language practice.Implement classroom management strategies that promote positive behavior and a respectful learning atmosphere.Develop and implement dynamic, age-appropriate lessons aligned with the school's IELP and English B curriculum, ensuring students' progress in all areas of language acquisition.Adapt lessons and materials to suit the proficiency levels and specific needs of students, including those with varying language backgrounds and learning styles.Integrate a mix of skills-based activities (e.g., speaking, writing, listening, and reading tasks) and use authentic materials to enhance language learning.Assessment & Evaluation:Conduct ongoing formative and summative assessments to track students' progress in both ESL and English B, providing feedback that encourages improvement.Regularly assess and monitor students' language proficiency, adjusting teaching strategies accordingly.Prepare and grade assignments, quizzes, and exams in a timely manner, ensuring accurate records of student progress are kept.Student Support & Differentiation:Offer personalized support to students who require additional help in mastering language skills, through after-class sessions, one-on-one tutoring, or small group activities.Provide constructive feedback and encouragement to students, identifying their strengths and areas for improvement in a positive manner.Design differentiated learning activities and support materials to cater to students' individual needs and proficiency levels.Collaboration & Professional Development:Work closely with other language and subject teachers to ensure cohesive curriculum delivery and a holistic approach to student development.Participate in regular department meetings, professional learning communities (PLCs), and school-wide events.Continuously reflect on and improve teaching practices through professional development opportunities, staying updated with current trends in ESL education and language teaching.Communication with Parents & Guardians:Regularly communicate with parents and guardians about students' progress, areas of strength, and areas needing improvement, maintaining positive relationships.Participate in parent-teacher meetings, providing valuable insights into students' language learning experiences and achievements.Qualifications & Skills:Educational Requirements:A Bachelor's degree in Education, English, TESOL, or a related field.A recognized teaching qualification in ESL (such as TESOL, TEFL, CELTA) or an IB English B teaching certification (preferred).Experience in teaching English as a Second Language or English B to secondary school students is preferred.Experience & Skills:At least 2 years of teaching experience in ESL or English B with students aged 12-16.Strong understanding of language acquisition theories, and teaching methodologies for ESL learners.Ability to create engaging and differentiated lesson plans, fostering an inclusive learning environment.Experience with using digital tools, multimedia resources, and educational technology in the classroom to support language development.Familiarity with international curricula (e.g., IB, IGCSE, or similar) is an advantage.Location:Springhill CampusSummary of role requirements:Looking for candidates available to work:Monday: Morning, Afternoon, EveningTuesday: Morning, Afternoon, EveningWednesday: Morning, Afternoon, EveningThursday: Morning, Afternoon, EveningFriday: Morning, Afternoon, EveningSaturday: Morning, Afternoon, Evening2-3 years of relevant work experience required for this role.Work visa can be provided for this role.Expected start date for role: 02 January 2025.Expected salary: RM2,600 - RM3,500 per month.#J-18808-Ljbffr
