The IBM Technology Expert Labs organization is looking for an IBM Mainframe Solution Architect with expertise in IBM z/OS and Linux on z technology and products.
The Solution Architect will collaborate with the client, business partner, and sellers to understand client requirements, and conduct discovery activities to define and create services solutions to address client needs.
You will utilize your in-depth knowledge of leading-edge products and technology in conjunction with industry and business skills to influence clients.
You are responsible for building a scope with activities and corresponding assumptions and estimating the level of effort.
The Solution Architect creates the client-facing proposal content and the detailed work breakdown structure.
You will work in a fast-paced environment, working on multiple projects with multiple sellers and clients.
Your role and responsibilitiesAs a Solution Architect you'll be a pivotal team member who connects the client's technical functional and implementation requirements with a solution design and proposal.
You'll work closely with clients and sellers to build solutions based on the meeting the client's business outcomes and known best practices for the technology and industry.
In this fast-paced role, you'll design, and construct build work breakdown structure leading to the rough order of magnitude leading to the price and statement of work.
A successful Solution Architect will demonstrate a natural bias towards self-motivation and navigating data and people to find answers and present solutions that ensure world class delivery.

End-to-End Technical Guidance:Providing expert end-to-end technical guidance to lead discovery discussions with prospective clients, assess architecture needs for projects, work with technical leads and sellers to create proposals.
Finding the Best Architectural Outcomes:Leading client workshops; influencing client stakeholders at all levels to find the best architectural outcomes that align to business and technology strategies and initiatives into actionable roadmaps with clear direction on execution to ensure business value and ROI.
Maintaining Solution Review Boards:Developing and contributing to the solution review boards for proposals including oversight for technology assurance, quality and risk evaluation.
Building Successful Relationships:Establishing and maintaining personal relationships at all levels – from engineers to CIOs – with experience of navigating challenging debate to reach healthy resolutions.
Required educationHigh School Diploma/GED
Preferred educationMaster's Degree
Required technical and professional expertise5-10 years of experience with:z/OS, z security, RACF, z networking
Linux on z: RHEL, RedHat OpenShift, Ansible, z/VM
Middleware: Db2, IMS, CICS, MQ, WAS
z Application and Platform Software tools
Experience architecting plans for IBM z/OS version upgrades for existing and new IBM Z hardware implementation services, including product migration services for both IBM and third-party ISV software related productsDemonstrated communication skills in a customer facing environment at all levels of technical, management and executives.
Understand technical requirements to craft work scopes, work breakdown structures, labor estimates, and manage risk.
Preferred technical and professional experienceExperience working in Banking and Public Sector environments.
Experience working with Ecosystem Partners and Sellers.
