The Instructional Designer is responsible for the creation of engaging educational content for learning and development across the entire company.
While the primary focus will be the support of client-specific operations, there are a number of central operational roles that will also require your assistance.
This means that you will cover a broad range of topics, so you must get along well with others, and be open to learning new things.
The goal of this position is to help others learn faster so that they can improve at their work today, while also preparing them for future professional growth.
Core Responsibilities
These are the tasks we expect will occupy 80-90 percent of your time on a regular basis:
Collaborate with client operations to build great training and elearning content.
This will be your primary focus and generally takes priority over other content creation.
Support our core teams with the creation of training and elearning content.
Spread the skill of instructional design across the company through doing the work and teaching key components of your discipline to others.
Work with the executive leadership team to create content that serves to influence and share the desired leadership and management practices we have at Player Support.
Experiment with tools and techniques to make learning more effective, or to help build information into digital tools and resources.
Work across the organization to reduce cognitive load and dissonance.
Help keep management informed and accountable through learning.
Assist with the beginning of building the L&D discipline at the company.
Additional Responsibilities
These are other tasks that you will be occasionally asked to do:
Complete surveys and assist with research
Help the company innovate to make it a great work environment
Come to the office for group project work or high security tasks (mostly voluntary, especially if you live far away from a local office location)
Present on a topic to teammates or clients, depending on the situation (voluntary)
Partner with other internal partners to increase organizational understanding and improve management decision making.
Requirements
The core competencies required for this job are:
Conflict resolution, giving and receiving feedback
Critical thinking
Experience with various elearning content creation software and LMS' (i.e.
Adobe Captivate, iSpring, Seismic/Lessonly, Articulate 360, Docebo, etc….)
Experience with basic software (i.e.
Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Internet research)
Ability to work from home (good internet connection, secure and quiet work space, decent computer, camera, microphone, etc….)
Integrity (consistency between words and actions, accountability)
Familiarity with concepts like ADDIE, Bloom's Taxonomy, Kirkpatrick's Model of Evaluation (4-levels), and Gangne's 9 Events
Evidence of previous experience creating training, elearning, and/or other related educational materials.
Nice to haves:
Basic statistics knowledge
A love for games, especially video games
Basic project management
