Position Overview:
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Investment Associate / Senior Associate to join our investment team at one of Malaysia's premier asset management firms. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in investment analysis, financial modeling, valuation, and market research. This role will primarily focus on evaluating investment opportunities, conducting due diligence, and providing analytical insights to guide investment decisions. The position does not involve sourcing new deals but will require close collaboration with senior team members to support investment strategy and portfolio management.
Key Responsibilities:
Investment Evaluation & Due Diligence:
Conduct thorough due diligence on potential investment opportunities by assessing financial health, business models, and market conditions.
Vet investment opportunities through detailed financial analysis, risk assessment, and valuation, ensuring alignment with the firm's investment strategy.Financial Modeling & Valuation:
Develop and maintain financial models to evaluate investment returns, including discounted cash flow (DCF), comparable company analysis, and precedent transactions.
Perform valuations of potential investments, ensuring the appropriate use of valuation techniques and methodologies.Market Research & Industry Analysis:
Conduct comprehensive market and sector research to identify key trends, risks, and opportunities.
Monitor economic, political, and industry developments to inform the investment decision-making process and adjust assumptions within financial models.Investment Analysis & Reporting:
Provide detailed analysis of potential deals and their financial performance to senior management, identifying risks and opportunities for value creation.
Prepare investment memorandums, presentations, and other reports for senior decision-makers, presenting findings clearly and concisely.Support Portfolio Management:
Work with the portfolio management team to monitor and evaluate the performance of existing investments, identifying areas for optimization and value enhancement.
Assist in the ongoing analysis of portfolio companies and recommend strategic adjustments to maximize returns.Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:
Collaborate with internal teams (risk, legal, operations, etc.) to ensure that all aspects of the due diligence and investment process are covered and in compliance with internal procedures.
Engage with external advisors and consultants to gather insights and information to support deal analysis.Contribute to Investment Strategy Development:
Provide input into the overall investment strategy based on research, analysis, and market trends.
Support the development and refinement of portfolio strategy and sector allocation by delivering data-driven insights.Qualifications and Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant professional qualification (CFA, CAIA, etc.) is highly desirable.Experience:
3-5 years of experience in investment analysis, financial modeling, or valuation, preferably in asset management, private equity, investment banking, or corporate finance.
Strong understanding of financial markets, investment vehicles, and financial instruments.Technical Skills:
Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, including DCF, LBO, and comparative analysis techniques.
Excellent command of Excel, with the ability to develop complex financial models and data analysis.
Experience using financial data platforms (Bloomberg, Reuters, FactSet, etc.) is preferred.
Proficient in PowerPoint for investment presentations and reporting.Analytical Skills:
Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, with the ability to derive meaningful insights from financial data and market information.
Ability to understand and evaluate the strategic, financial, and operational aspects of potential investments.Communication Skills:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to present complex financial data clearly to senior stakeholders.
Strong report writing and presentation skills, with a focus on providing actionable insights.Team Collaboration:
Able to work collaboratively in a team environment and effectively contribute to group discussions and decision-making processes.
Comfortable working with senior team members and stakeholders to communicate findings and drive the investment process forward.Desired Characteristics:
