Why does this job exist and why is it critical?
Analysis, crystallize, and determine business needs from IT systems.
Capture and produce Business Requirements Specification / User Requirements Specification.
Ensure mapping of business requirements to acceptance criteria.
Ensure business processes are defined by LOB in terms of customer and service life cycle experience from business.
Define the processes across IT systems.
Review and acquire signoff for the requirement.
Clarify business requirements ambiguity from Delivery Team.
Review project documentation to ensure business requirements are met.
Proactively understand any business concerns related to IT and feedback to team for improvements.
Translate business requirements based on technical solution.
Propose solution and design based on requirements.
Validate scope of work and impact assessment from partner/vendor.
Ensure application vendor delivers per agreed timeline and cost.
Ensure solution is discussed with operations and handover is done.
Manage the end-to-end lifecycle.
Follow up with development team with roll-out plan.
Production handover.
Team reporting, update UCR status.
What are you accountable for?
Elicit, clarify, and capture business requirements.
Discuss use cases covering service life cycle, user journey, business processes, and rules.
Produce user requirements specification (URS), mapping business requirements to application functional enhancements.
URS should include non-functional requirements e.g.
capacity and performance requirements.
Walkthrough URS and request for user signoff.
Engage solution architects and domain technical leads (DTLs) to discuss end-to-end solution, and revert to business on the feasibility assessment.
Explain the requirements to DTL for impact assessment (IA) preparation.
Review IA from DTLs to ensure scope of enhancements meets business requirements including effort and timeline.
For enterprise applications, you may act as DTL to propose the solution and system implication for partners for assessment, review assessment and manage delivery of the solution.
Also manage enhancements prioritization, production fixes, and rollout.
Prepare the technical solution justification for approval.
Initiate capex drawdown and PR/PO to partners for delivery.
Manage project delivery to ensure timeline and deliverables meet the planned milestones.
Ensure mapping of business requirements to user acceptance scenarios and criteria.
Work with quality assurance team (TQA) to identify test scenarios required to validate the scope of the enhancements, and prioritize test scenario coverage.
Plan and manage rollout activities including consolidating rollout plan from DTLs and present change for approval to the change approval team (CAB).
Coordinate and manage post-production verification by business stakeholders.
Stakeholder satisfaction on the delivery quality and effectiveness.
What do you need to have for this role?
Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Telecommunications.
Communication and planning i.e.
ability to manage stakeholders and partners' expectations; ability to communicate and document requirements clearly and help stakeholders visualize the requirements captured; plan and manage deliverables, dependencies, and risks effectively.
Requirements management i.e.
holistic consideration of functional and non-functional requirements, clear definition, and no ambiguity and dispute related to requirements being wrongly captured or missed; number of requirements iterations and prioritization, identify gaps and propose solutions.
Skills and knowledge i.e.
big picture thinking, communication and collaboration skills, solutioning skills, apply lessons learned and proactiveness to share knowledge.
Change management i.e.
manage scope creep during project implementation, number of change requests due to missed requirement, number of defects due to requirement or solution gap, prioritization of changes.
Effectiveness i.e.
manage concurrent tasks; contributing to new ideas and improvements to the team; deliver projects meeting budget, timeline, and quality; velocity of execution.
Keep abreast with the latest development in telco, IT (digital, cloud, security) and solutions related to LOB to provide advice and guidance from IT perspective.
Solid experience in BSS area in Telecommunications/software industry and specifically in CRM, OM, Billing, Portal/App, SOA, SDP.
Have knowledge related to BSS Prepaid/Postpaid in Wireless, Broadband, and Fixed technology and services e.g.
GSM, WiFi, Fibre, VoIP etc.
Knowledge in TM Forum Business Process Framework (eTOM).
Strong communication skills in both verbal and written with the ability to influence, engage, advise, and articulate ideas and propositions clearly.
Strong analytical skills to analyze, understand the business requirements and translate into application and operational requirements, provide high-level solution options and pros and cons.
Ability to analyze processes and practices within the organization.
