Job Summary We are looking for a driven Jr. DevOps Engineer to join our Kuala Lumpur office in Malaysia.
As a DevOps Engineer within GeoSoftware you will be responsible for helping us manage and maintain our GeoSoftware Development Infrastructure (GDI). You will leverage our GIT HUB development repository and be responsible for solving issues related to testing, monitoring, release management and operational planning while bridging the gap between operations and development. Moreover, you will introduce processes, tools, and methodologies to improve the software development life cycle (SDLC) from coding and deployment to maintenance and updates.
At a high-level the role includes:
Assist in the deployment and configuration of technologies and tools used in software development, including build servers, version control systems, and automated testing frameworks. Collaborate with the development team to resolve problems with infrastructure and software deployments and provide support to developers who rely the CI/CD pipelines. Assist in managing and maintaining our cloud-based infrastructure and services as provided by our provider. In this role you will report to TBD within the Research and Development department. This is a hybrid role with the expectations for remote work derived at the discretion of the Line Manager from our Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia location.
Duties and Responsibilities Development Operations
Create and maintain scripts and leverage automation tools to simplify software build infrastructure administration and enhance software deployment. Continuous collaboration with the Development and Testing teams to troubleshoot and resolve problems with infrastructure, software deployments and automation test integration into CI/CD. Support the deployment and adoption of new technologies and tools used in software development, including build servers, version control, and test frameworks. Designing code which will automate repetitive tasks to reduce manual intervention and improve development and release processes. Identify, assess and resolve defects within DevOps related code or version control systems. Identify, assess and resolve process deficiencies within DevOps or release process. Ensure CI/CD pipelines are working effectively for rapid and effective code deployment Facilitate access control and vulnerability management, as well as monitor and maintain system security within our GDI infrastructure. Critical Thinking/Problem Solving Ability to quickly learn and understand the details in technical areas. Ability to prioritize at the team level with varying scope variables and competing priorities. Functioning as a knowledge or escalation point for CI/CD operations. Ability to identify risks, communicate them effectively and propose solutions. Soft Skills: Exceptional English language communication skills (written and oral; one-to-one and group). Ability to communicate with ease at different levels in the organization and to stakeholders with different backgrounds and objectives. Understanding of cloud-based infrastructure and services. Experience with Git or another Development Operations version control system. Understanding of software development processes and tools, such as CI/CD. Knowlege of container virtualization and docker container configuration. Demonstrated experience in automating tasks with scripts in a language like Python, Bash or PowerShell. Integration of Test Automation frameworks within the CI/CD pipeline. Coding capabilities with a coding language whether through post-secondary education, or development experience. Installing and maintaining Linux and Windows server operating systems. Candidates should have strong computer skills including typing efficiency. Qualifications & Requirements Required: Bachelor's degree/Technical Diploma in computing science or relevant information technology experience/education. 2+ years in a DevOps role supporting multiple users within the SDLC. Experience with deployment and configuration technologies and tools in software development including version control systems and build servers (Jenkins) within the CI/CD pipeline.
