LABORATORY OPERATIONS MANAGER (12 MONTHS CONTRACT)Full-time

Responsibilities:
Ensure effective implementation and maintenance of MS ISO/IEC 17025:2017, SAMM Policy as well as Natural Resources Group Quality Systems in all laboratories.
Support his/her manager in handling daily operations and provide technical and management supervision to laboratory staff to ensure the timeliness and accuracy of tests.
Ensure that operations are performed in accordance with the approved procedure or standard/method.
Work and coordinate with his/her superior to resolve operational inquiries and ensure all root causes of non-conformities or customer complaints are investigated and identified with appropriate corrective actions.
Keep updated on industry & SGS best practices with regards to the use of appropriate analytical methods for the commodities serviced.
Support Business Leaders to set up new operations within the given timeframe and work closely with group leaders locally and globally to ensure efficient operations.
Review laboratory operations plans and procedures to address adverse variances in activity and maximize productivity and efficiency.
Ensure participation and excellence in Proficiency Test and Round-Robin program of designated laboratory operation.
Coach, mentor and develop laboratory staff; identify training needs relevant for technical skills improvement.
Ensure all analytical equipment in the operation is calibrated as needed and maintained.
Ensure that all Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) / Operational Integrity requirements are met.
Adhere to the highest standards of ethics, in accordance with the SGS Code of Integrity and local HR policies.
Uphold good safety behavior and exercise necessary standards and processes to ensure compliance with HSE requirements.
Perform any other responsibilities as assigned by your reporting manager and/or Senior Management.
Qualifications:
Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Science or equivalent.
Minimum 10 years' laboratory experience, with at least 5 years at the leadership level in managing and leading laboratory operations.
Proficient in ISO/IEC 17025:2017 requirements.
Knowledge in using computer/MS Office is a prerequisite; exposure to LIMS is an added advantage.#J-18808-Ljbffr
