Lead Counsel, CNS South-East Asia (South)Preferably based in Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia or Thailand, the Lead Counsel CNS SEA (South) is responsible for performing and ensuring adequate legal and compliance services to the Cloud and Network Services (CNS) business group throughout the region, and as applicable, working with other sub-functions of APAC and/or global legal function providing subject matter expert legal services to the businesses.
As Lead Counsel you will be focused on forward-looking and strategic support of management to ensure realization of CNS business objectives in SEA (South) and serve as an advisor as well as a gatekeeper for the relevant business and support functions, managing legal and compliance risks within the region.
You will strike a good balance between individual and team contributions and be able to work with solid analysis and sound judgment under minimum supervision.

Your skills and experience
You have:
7+ years of experience as a counsel within multinational companies or a recognized law firm.
Business level English language ability, capable to draft and comment in English.
A strong knowledge of the relevant legal framework mixed with excellent legal interpretation skills and exercise of judgment.
Ability to identify, assess and summarize legal, regulatory, commercial and operational risks.
Extensive experience in drafting commercial contracts and managing negotiations with customers
A proactive learner and team player, able to provide practical solutions and pre-empt blocking issues or hurdles to deadlines.
An ability to consider, analyze and research issues and present proposed outcomes.
A strong drive to carry matters through to a successful completion with internal clients and stakeholders and who is a true team-player who likes to share knowledge and has a willingness to learn.
Strong communication skills with the confidence to propose, challenge and discuss ideas, analysis or other topics.
Ability to use nonstandard approaches to resolve issues, thinking "out of the box"; suggest improvements and seek opportunities for innovation; and demonstrate initiative & adaptability to ever changing legal and business environments.

Background in IT, technology, cloud services, data centre or the telecom industry
In-house counsel experience in a global multi-national company
This is not mandatory, but could be considered as a plus
As part of our team, you will:
Drive and lead legal support on CNS deals and business opportunities including drafting, deal structuring and negotiating contracts with customers and relevant third parties; providing input into contract risk assessment processes; attending the contract approval and validation meetings in accordance with Nokia process; cooperating closely with the bid team, sales teams, business group, contract management team and other business stakeholders on deals.
Provide advice, guidance and support on various legal and regulatory matters which will include commercial matters, litigation or disputes and corporate governance, related to the CNS business in SEA (South).
Assist in evaluations and conducting thorough due diligence for all deals and transactions and effectively develop and implement appropriate risk-mitigation strategies in relation to Nokia's business operations.
Understand internal and external business challenges and recommend best practices to improve products, processes and services in close coordination with other relevant L&C and CNS business functions.
Provide measurable output in the form of recommendations, training, other type of advice to the business deriving from new laws, regulations, customer contracts, supplier's work, as required.
Contribute to strategic decisions within professional area in line with Nokia standards, processes and policies.
Solve complex problems based on sophisticated analytical thought and complex judgment with in-depth organizational and relevant market knowledge.
Maintain good standards of corporate governance, including ensuring compliance with applicable laws, consents, regulations, Company policies and rules.
