SummaryThis position is for a product quality engineer.
As a product quality engineer for backend, one will review customer-reported failures, manage and improve field RMA test plans and RMA reports, and be involved in customer quality case investigations.
Although the position is primarily quality management-based, the candidate must interface with the product testing team, QA team, PMO team, GDS engineering team, and customer-facing team.
Candidate must have strong knowledge in quality management and a technology background in switch, storage, and server product testing.
Detailed DescriptionReview and manage the RMA tracker to ensure data integrity and completeness to support deeper data analysis.
Monitor the RMA failure analysis activities, identify gaps, and provide improvements for the RMA failure analysis process and results.
Build and maintain the know-issue list for quality data analysis.
Review RMA failure analysis results and provide feedback to functional teams including design, manufacturing, and SCM.
Work with the manufacturing QA team on quality case investigations, providing guidelines on failure analysis and impact assessment to ensure due diligence is completed prior to case closing or escalation.
Coordinate with the DQM team for engineering team failure analysis on major customer quality cases.
Provide the RMA testing improvement plan to support NDF and other non-root-cause reduction initiatives.
Support key accounts customer report reviews to improve customer experience.
Experience with relevant product quality management:Deep understanding of product lifecycle.
Familiar with customer RMA processes and workflows.
Familiar with quality management tools including but not limited to Pareto, 5 Whys, Fault tree analysis, Scatter diagram, 8D report and checklist, Fishbone diagram.
Experience in failure analysis principles and methodologies.Proficient with a variety of computer software applications including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Strong ability to work under time constraints, multitask, and solve problems.
Strong organizational and planning skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Strong ability to work well in a group atmosphere and comply with high-quality standards.
Typical ExperienceStrong ability to shift from one task to another to address changing priorities.
Minimum of 3 years in a similar position.
Experience working with Asian-based design and production teams is desired.
3 years of experience as a people-driven functional manager is desired.
Prior participation in quality management is desired.
Product testing related experience is desired.
The successful candidate will be a self-motivated individual capable of working with minimal supervision in a dynamic team environment.
Good interpersonal skills are required to communicate effectively with members of other teams, departments, and clients, as a high degree of liaison is needed.
Typical EducationBS in Electrical Engineering required.
