Job Responsibilities:
Facilitate risk and safety assessment workshops within BV Malaysia and SEA region.
Conduct formal safety assessment (FSA) studies (qualitative, semi-quantitative, quantitative), including Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA), Consequence Modelling, Fire Risk Assessment Studies (FERA), and more.
Facilitate risk workshops such as HAZID/ENVID, HAZOP, ALARP, LOPA, SIL classification & verification, Bow tie, PHSER, etc.
Prepare/review safety instrumented function (SIF) summary based on PHA/LOPA SIL study results.
Prepare/review formal safety assessments (FSA) reports.
Guide the team in modeling software such as Phast, Shell FRED, FLACS, and Flaresim.
Supervise/prepare safety cases and/or safety reports, including Facility Description and Hazard Registers.
Review safety studies reports prepared by senior consultants and ensure compliance with BV standards.
Perform fire protection and safety studies for conceptual, FEED, and detailed design projects.
Lead and/or coordinate project activities and deliverables according to the project schedule.
Prepare technical proposals for Risk and Safety assessment studies.
Develop quality deliverables as required by project specifications.
Other Responsibilities:
Assist BV Business Development in preparing proposals and marketing of BV products and services.
Represent Bureau Veritas on related exhibitions/committees/work groups.
Provide internal training to engineers to improve their knowledge and skills in safety studies.
Support and supervise task delegation to the team.
Attend to client comments during project execution.
Develop good working relationships with clients.
Attend client meetings to deliver effective technical solutions.
Perform scope screening at the initiation of bidding activities.
Job Requirements:
Degree in Chemical Engineering; preferably a Master's in Safety Engineering.
Certification as a Functional Safety Engineer/Professional is an advantage.
Chartered Engineer or professional accreditation preferred.
Minimum 3 years consultancy experience in a similar position.
10-15 years working experience in risk and safety studies for oil and gas, petrochemical industries.
Experience with major operators in the region is valued.
Experience in renewable energy and sustainability projects is advantageous.
Familiarity with relevant international standards and local regulations.
Experience in QRA pipeline and 3D software is highly valued.
Critical Skills & Personal Attributes:
Proven experience in a Risk & Safety Engineering role.
Ability to facilitate Technical Safety Reviews.
Experience in developing AI PSM roadmap and methodologies.
Experience in 3D modelling studies.
Strong ethics and integrity.
Capable of leading a team of consultants.
A "solutions mindset" with the ability to manage varying tasks.
Demonstrated experience in supporting and coaching junior professionals.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work confidently and prioritize a high volume of work.
Strong collaboration skills to ensure customer satisfaction.
Effective client interfacing.
Competent report writing and database development skills.
Fluency in English is essential.
