Project:Subsea SURF Project in Southeast Asia
Company:Large Global Engineering Consultancy
Location:Perth, Australia / Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced and qualified Lead Umbilical Engineer to join our team for a subsea SURF project in Southeast Asia. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the Umbilical engineering of the SURF facility, ensuring that all design concepts, specifications, and calculations meet the project's requirements, as well as complying with relevant industry codes, regulations, and COMPANY SoW (Scope of Work) and BoD (Basis of Design).
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the design, engineering, and specification of umbilical systems for subsea SURF facilities, ensuring compliance with design criteria, regulations, and best industry practices.
Develop and review design concepts, criteria, specifications, and analysis for deepwater production umbilicals, including steel tubes and various umbilical types (e.g., electro multiplex hydraulic, direct hydraulic).
Perform static and dynamic analysis of umbilicals, interfacing with floating facilities and conducting fatigue analysis.
Design and interface umbilical systems with subsea controls and distribution systems, including SUTA, SDU, TUTU, etc.
Lead and manage the umbilical system design interface with floating facilities (e.g., I/J tube, hang-off solutions) to ensure safe and efficient integration.
Oversee and ensure quality control during the FEED (Front-End Engineering Design) and EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) stages of the project.
Work closely with the project management team to meet milestones, and provide technical leadership throughout the project's lifecycle, including construction and pre-commissioning.
Manage the umbilical system design and ensure it meets the high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) and high CO2 well stream requirements.
Key Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in an engineering-related field (advanced degree is preferred). Chartered engineer status within a recognized engineering institution is highly desirable.
A minimum of 15 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, with at least 10 years in riser/umbilical system engineering.
At least 5 years of experience as a Lead Umbilical Engineer, including two (2) previous roles as Lead Umbilical Engineer during the FEED or detailed engineering EPCI stages.
Extensive experience with deepwater production umbilical systems, including the design and specification of steel tube umbilicals and both electro multiplex hydraulic and direct hydraulic umbilicals.
Proven experience in performing static and dynamic analysis of umbilicals, including fatigue analysis and interfacing with large floating facilities.
Strong experience in subsea umbilical system design and interfacing with floating facilities (e.g., I/J tube, hang-off solutions).
In-depth knowledge of FEED and EPC project activities related to umbilical system engineering for deepwater SURF facilities, including construction, pre-commissioning, and project management.
Experience in high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) and high CO2 well stream environments is essential.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage teams, provide technical leadership, and work effectively across multiple project phases.
