Salary: RM 32,400.00 - RM 48,000.00 per annum
This position supports the work of the Chief Operating Officer office by providing comprehensive, confidential personal and executive support and a range of paralegal services including the preparation and review of documents, undertaking of legal research and advising the Chief Operating Officer on legal matters.
Main responsibilities: Coordinate and ensure the effective delivery of legal and administrative service activities by liaising and working collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.Develop and implement administrative processes which effectively support the university strategy.Provide high-level support to the office through the drafting of correspondence, reports, briefing papers and other relevant documentation.Establish and maintain efficient business processes and practices within the area, including but not limited to general administration, records management and matters relating to the physical resources and maintenance requirements of the area.Draft documentations, contracts and agreements, Memorandum of Understanding, reviewing legal documents for accuracy and completeness.Manage the approval requirements of legal documents according to Curtin Malaysia's delegations. Undertake legal research, documenting findings and accurately interpret and implement actions according to Curtin Malaysia's policies and procedures. Undertake due diligence activities including but not limited to searches relating to real property, IP Malaysia and trademarks to assist with the strategic decision-making in business development, choice of partners and managing current contracts.Manage and update Curtin Malaysia's brand/IP trade mark portfolio. Liaise with internal clients and external counsel on renewals and registrations of trademarks. Maintain register and report to the Chief Operating Officer on affixation of the common seal to documents.Advise the Chief Operating Officer on the joint venture agreement, governance and regulatory environment.Provide timely updates to the Chief Operating Officer on any Australia or Malaysia government sanctions.Review and prepare tender-related documents and vendor /contractor agreements.Prepare responses to government policy changes or request consultation from government departments and ministries. Selection Criteria: Essential A bachelor's or master's in law from a recognized institution, with a Certificate of Legal Practice (CLP) from Legal Professional Qualifying Board Malaysia (LPQB) or extensive para-legal experience.Minimum of 2 years corporate or commercial legal experienceDemonstrated experience in contract development or other legal drafting.High-level interpersonal and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact and gain cooperation from a wide range of internal and external stakeholdersDemonstrated high-level written communication skills with the ability to prepare correspondence and documentation using clear, concise and grammatically correct language.Highly developed organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage time under the pressure of deadlines.Demonstrated advanced computer skills, particularly with experience in the Microsoft suite of applications.Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously with a high degree of autonomy as well as collaboratively in a team environment. Desirable Previous experience in a university environment.Certificate of Legal Practice (CLP) from Legal Professional Qualifying Board Malaysia (LPQB).
