ResponsibilitiesBrief:The Legal and Compliance Manager is responsible for overseeing the Group's legal affairs and ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies. This role involves providing legal guidance, managing compliance programs, and mitigating risks associated with local and overseas business operations.
Legal AdvisoryDraft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
Provide legal counsel on a variety of issues including contracts, corporate governance, intellectual property, employment law, and regulatory matters.
Manage disputes and liaise with external legal counsel as necessary.
Compliance ManagementDevelop, implement, and maintain compliance policies and procedures to ensure adherence to laws, regulations, and industry standards.
Conduct regular compliance audits and assessments to identify risks and areas for improvement.
Monitor changes in relevant laws and regulations and update policies and procedures accordingly.
Reporting and DocumentationMaintain accurate and up-to-date records of legal and compliance activities, including audits, investigations, and training sessions.
Prepare and present reports on compliance status, legal issues, and risk management to senior management and the board of directors.
Risk ManagementIdentify, assess, and mitigate legal and compliance risks associated with business operations.
Advise on risk management strategies and assist in the development of risk mitigation plans.
Regulatory LiaisonAct as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies and government agencies.
Ensure timely and accurate submission of required reports and documentation.
Ethics and IntegrityPromote a culture of integrity and ethical behaviour within the organization.
Address and investigate compliance concerns and ethical dilemmas raised by employees.
Training and EducationDevelop and deliver compliance training programs to employees at all levels of the organization.
Create educational materials and resources to raise awareness about legal and compliance issues.
RequirementsMinimum Bachelor's Degree in Law from an accredited law school.
Admission to the Malaysian bar.
Minimum 5-7 years of experience in legal and compliance roles within the APAC / SEA regions.
Demonstrated knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.
Proficient in spoken and written Mandarin and English.
Ability to travel within the APAC / SEA regions.
Proven leadership in a managerial role in the current / previous organizations.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to negotiate and draft complex legal documents.
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Possess the highest integrity and strong ethical standards.
