Job Description:
Legal Clerk/Secretary (Litigation)
• Support and independently undertake clerical work in relation to the following civil litigation processes (including drafting the usual cause papers, arranging service, advertisement, filing and other relevant actions):Civil action up to entering judgment in default
Applications for substituted service of cause papers
Bankruptcy
Winding-Up
Garnishee
Judgment Debtor Summons
Writ of seizure and sale
Filing of appeal papers and documents
• Draft, prepare and fair letters, cause papers, exhibits and documents for affirmation, filing and/or service.
• Update and keep record of status of files.
• Update, supervise and monitor Court dates.
• Support and assist lawyers and partners in the preparation of case and compilation of cause papers and documents.
• Conduct searches including NRIC, bankruptcy, winding-up, company and file searches.
• Attend to telephone calls and other communications.
• Perform any other secretarial or billing work.
• Attend to other related and general clerical duties.
• Support and manage the clerical and admin functions of the office and other office routines.Chambering Student
• Assist lawyers on litigation files in all aspects.
• Draft, prepare and fair letters and correspondences.
• Draft cause papers.
• Conduct legal research.
• Maintain and manage proper filing of records.
• Fair cause papers, attend to the preparation and filing as well as progression of litigation files.
• Prepare for court proceedings.
• Attend to other work assigned by the lawyer from time to time.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Legal Clerk / Secretary
• SPM & above.
• 2-3 years of litigation clerk experience.
• Able to work independently under minimum supervision.
• Good command of written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong computer skills, with solid proficiency in Microsoft applications, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel & Office and PDF editors.
• Familiar with the Malaysian Court E-Filing system, insolvency and SSM search portals.
Chambering Student
• Possess the relevant qualifications to commence pupillage.
• Preferably with past experience in attending to litigation work (paralegal, clerkship or internship).
• Strong legal research skills.
• Excellent command of written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia.
• Meticulous and good drafting skills.
• Able to work under pressure.
• Good analytical skills.
